Let me begin by saying that I enjoy being a part of PoetrySoup.  I have been around for last five or six years, writing, reading, meeting and interacting with talented poets from around the world. There is much I have learned! .

I wrote my first poem between the ages of five - six, after a field trip to a beach on the Atlantic coast on a most gorgeous sunny day. My Papa was so proud of me, he hung it in the living room! lol  Somewhere along the way, my poem was lost as are mamy others written in between relocating from one country to another. It was my 8th grade teacher who first advised me to keep writing.  Always a dreamer, my Papa complained that I was absent-minded and I didn't mind because it was true as there was so much to see and do everywhere else than where I was at any moment. Ah, but life has a way of making you conform to its tons of mundane tasks; however that dreamer still lives, today!

Along with poetry, I have accomplished one of my dreams with regards to writing.  I published a book, "Fiona's Journey" in 2004-my first attempt. It's nothing to brag about, yet it was an enjoyable experience and I'm glad I was given that chance to share my feelings and beliefs with others.  It was written for children but anyone would enjoy.  Since then I've embarked on a novel which is taking forever. However, I will persevere as the story means very much to me.

I live on the beautiful state of Maryland on the east coast with my family.  I have an extraordinary child who I'm extremely grateful for.  We share a life that's enriching with music, people, our love for each other and nature. We both love the ocean and visit at every opportunity that comes up.

I'm easy going and friendly; loving people just comes naturally. And I still have faith that one day, man will come to see that we have no choice but to respect and love each other or none of us will survive..not even the strongest in any sense. In my free time, I enjoy entertaining, basketball (watching- lol I'm only 5' 3"), cooking, movies, sewing and travelling.

My dearest friend, Jimmy Matthew Anderson, has asked me to post a blog regarding his latest poem, "Feeding My Father To The Devil".  As this poem relates to childhood sexual abuse, a true experience for many of us and has so many ramifications, but is more often never spoken off because of the shame and anger that victims keep inside.  It distorts minds and taints every aspect of one's life, filling a young person's mind and heart with so much anger.  Some of us walk through this fire with minor burns, others not so lucky, survive but carry that incedible burden for life, whether we realize it or not.  Jimmy is dedicating this to all who have ever been sexually abused as a child and would like you all to read it.  The Psychologists believe that bipolar and other mental problems stem from childhood sexual abuse and advice that one should always seek counseling.  It was coincidental that he would write this poem now when another poet and I were discussing this quite recently.  Take care and please remember him in your prayers.

Thank you for reading his poem.

God bless.

Audrey

Will read as I work with sexually, physically, mentally abused kids on weekends. It's the quiet ones that are so hard to reach. Some have never had a chance to be a kid. My poems Turtle and Shattered Dreams were about 2 of those kids. God Bless. Vince

Hi Audrey :) Thanks for blogging about this on Jimmy's behalf-- I do think that awareness with regards to childhood sexual abuse should be raised-- so many silent voices are screaming to be heard-- so sad that some even take these abuses to their graves...and these abusers actually GET AWAY with it-- it makes me seething mad that they can go on their merry lives, not even having ANY GUILT with the lives they've wreaked havoc on...thanks again & I will make sure to check out his latest poem-- God bless you and Jimmy :) -- nikko :)

Hi Irma, Yes, there're many like us and we pray for those who die in the silence. We are among the strong ones who survived. Will pass your kind message along. Love, Audrey

Dearest Amy, Incredibly, this is so prevalent in this sick world, that some have become numb to this crime. I will pass on your kind message to JAM. He will appreciate it. Love, Audrey

Dear Constance, I can see why you'd be confused about the presence of Jimmy's Father here on PS, but he refers to Marty Owens as his Father, as he befriended Jimmy and introduced him to PS. That's the connection but they're not related. And thanks for your kindness, Constance. Love, Audrey

Hey, Audrey, It just so happens that I have already read this one. It's very powerful and I told him I enjoyed it VERY much. The other day I saw this older movie from about 1999 entitled the Gift, in which a woman could "see" things. In the movie a mentally disturbed boy was very messed up from his repressed memories of childhood abuse. THe poem reminded me of that movie. LUv, Andrea

Read my poem inspired from Jimmy's story about what his Dad did to him- "Conversion, Not Conviction" I believe in the opposite... conviction and not conversion

Bipolar disorder and other mental illnesses in that spectrum are primarily genetic although can be sparked by severe anxiety and trauma. Fear=anxiety which the brain handles by manifesting in this spectrum of disease. The one thing we can do is protect the children we know, even if they aren't "ours" and confront any person even a childs parent that you suspect may be sexually abusing a child.

It is also my opinion that adult rapists, child molesters and rapists need to die as punishment. Forget the rehab(which doesn't work) and the 30 years in prison. Fry 'em all, I say.

Audrey, there are many, many, many people who have suffered molestation and/ or rape... too many, in fact. Almost every person I know, male and female alike. Tell Jimmy he's in our hearts and prayers will be sent for him. This in an epidemic that, to this day, is rarely talked about until the person is older...it happens way too much. Look at all those boys who came out of the closet about the Priest's. Sexual abuse, especially to children is completely unexcusable, unacceptable, and unforgivable. This needs to be stopped and kids need to know it is OK to tell- no matter what.
