Lovesingdance

Blackberry wine in the evening time,
dinner on the porch and a tune with a rhyme,
Radio blastin' classic jams with
Stevie Nicks, Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix.
Buzzed in the brain and some mary jane,
dancing in the grass, then a puff puff pass.
Everyone's got their groove back, they said
Woodstock, Nixon gone, but Lennon dead.
Imagine all the people, living for today.
Cherishing the rhythms in a sincere way.
Bottomless love and peace and prayer,
if only it could stay that way, hey
we will get our groove back someday.

This is great, Jenny, sounds like good times ... and reminds me of more! Not long ago I said to someone that I missed the sixties, now I watch as they return on the news. Not what I intended. Wonderful write, and well-deserved win - congrats! :-)

I can hear the strumming of a banjo!

Some day yes, we'll get that groove back. Great nostalgic poem this is, and so well written. Welcome to PoetrySoup :)
