Addiction

She ate my emotions
and kidnapped my love
What once was my bottom
Is now my above

My intentions aren't evil
but driven by her hold
The warmth of her deception
Left me lifeless and cold

I gave her my everything
She burned all I had
In such a beautiful world
So lonely, So sad

And so I looked deep
Way down inside
In there was honesty
Where she could not hide

I began at the bottom
Planted the seeds
Love and compassion
not selfish, not greed

Complete submission
Willingness, and hope
Puts her in remission
I'm beginning to grow

This is a poem of hope. And yes, I understood the metaphor for love you used here, it makes it even more clear and powerful. Welcome to PoetrySoup
