Angels and Lyres

Angels and Lyres
A parents bliss seems to go with a kiss
child time like nursery rhymes rolls away in your mind
next thing you know a teen grown
tests your teachings
an experience in reaching for their own space
belief and faith
without reason comes a season
an adult blossoms beautiful and sound
feet on the ground carving life from stone
a world of his own brave and true
This man of you

Now there's a hole where life was before
the edges will grow smooth but the hole will never close

God might think our tears are ever rejoicing
when sorrow for the loss is our biggest cost
we tell ourselves a better place awaits
and we believe it true those golden gates
but the power of never we grieve forever

For God in Heaven must have needed one to make seven
most are sinners one or two maybe saints
then there are Warriors like the one you gave
mighty Angels great wings of gold
fighting evil so the legend goes
