Childhood Memory

It was over 10 years ago; I remember it like yesterday.
I sat on the tiled counter with a mess all over the place.
Cinnamon scents flooded the air.
I’m pretty sure glue was in my hair.
The scent made me hungry; I wanted to eat.
The “cookies” we made looked like a treat.
I tried one, then realized it wasn’t food.
The little “treat” we made was not good.
My grandma freaked out when she saw what I had done.
The cookie we made was a decoration for fun.
Christmas was nearing and my grandma wanted memories.
The “cookie” we made was meant for our tree.
Turns out it was an ornament I wasn’t supposed to eat.
I laugh about it now, but way back when I was three
I was really mad it wasn’t a cookie meant for me
