Lonely

Lonely

Smells like too-sharp frigid air- razor blades, icicles, a snow day, spent alone

Tastes like bitter tears, steady salty tracks trailing down pallid cheeks

Sounds like ringing silence, asking why, stifled cries

Feels like emptiness, tempting us, unrelenting, reeling

Feels like cool steel shackles, held fast to nothing, nothing

Feels disgusting, stifling, sucking happiness away from us, leaving bruises, stinging cuts

Lonely
