Misplaced

Someone should have told him
to put his head back on his shoulders,
yet it was lost, and we were mute.
What could we say to the man
who was always right?
He walked ahead seemingly
in the right direction,
but his head dawdled
someplace far behind,
trying desperately
to catch up with the rest of him.
As he quickly tried to integrate
(as this is common of the human condition)
his head found the ditch.
And we in turn moved forward
with fond embrace,
so glad were we
to have heard his heart
and his head go talking
elsewhere.
