Visit Your Mountain
You once told me to Paint a pretty picture
I asked for paint brushes and You gave me lead
Then You whispered,"You misunderstand Use your words."
I looked at you with wonder and a gleam in my eyes.
How could one paint using words?
You said you Have the words, I can see it in you.
Just close your eyes and visit that little mountain you dream of at night
the words will come to you.
You told me to close my eyes and go to the mountain, you were right.
The words came to me when it was silenced and I was calm.
That was almost four years ago. You've been dead awhile now.
I visit your grave and as I sit there I visit my mountain
It's been so long since I returned there. I feel as if the inspiration was closed off.
Dear Grandmother, I whisper as the wind whips through my hair.
you taught me the words, it starts to thunder.
you showed me my mountain, the rain is pouring.
you taught me patience with myself, my clothes are soaked.
I miss you so much and I started a cancer foundation, I start to run
I'll be back soon, I start tearing up as I whisper the final line
I'll save people with my paintings with words, I'll raise enough to save a life.
Then The lesson of the mountain will be repaid.
