You Taught Me Well

I fell for you
should have known better
The truth slipped in silently
in your first letters
Remember those days, unfettered?

I fell not hard
Yet it crushes me how
I could care so much,
in anger I let myself down
My golden happiness turned now brown

Why should it matter?
Why pretend?
I won't find otherwise;
My heart you will not mend
Though love will not be hate in the end

Now my love, tainted,
when I gaze into your eyes
tis not lust you see
but love disguised
A weakness, this I can not deny

You I thank for
liberating me, my idealistic hell
Yes my love
this much I can tell:
You have taught me well

I will turn down the flame;
Learn to do without
Forget your name
and leave no doubt
 ... this time blow the candle out

I write this why?
I can not tell
In this truth
I can not dwell
Yes, you have taught me well
