Last Prayers and Forgotten Memories

There I stood, now here I lay,
fallen and dying for new life to
be made.
I used to stand so proud and
tall,
But then I withered in a closing
fall.
No one knows now where I lie,
I see the sea and the warm
bright sky.
My last prayer is for you,
Grow tall and mighty, proud
and true.

I now remember days of pain,
Torrential storms with pounding
rain.
I would watch the tears fade
awhile,
As sunshine cradled it with a
smile.
I remember buzzing, like a
bee,
And down went a few
surrounding trees.
I was alone when the sound
passed on,
It grew din and silent, the
others long gone.
Just as I began to feel lonely,
A bird came and sang to me.
It was mournful at first, but as
it grew
It became happy and cheerful,
and I joined in too.
With creaks and groans I added
on to the song,
Ad we played the tune for a
time quite long.
As more trees left I saw a
beautiful sight,
A cobalt blue lake with flecks of
white.
As a duck lay sleeping in her
nest,
I saw her young protected
beneath her chest.
With every darkness there
came a light,
Whether a bird, a song, or a
peaceful sight.
So know that I tell you and I
pray,
Appreciate the dark and light of
day.

As light fades away and my
fingers curl,
I remember the day I entered
this world.
The others tilted and leaned as
I laid in the sun,
Feeling the warmth till the day
was done.
I had finally bursted from my
constricting shell,
A new forest member that had
fared well.
As the years rolled on I grew
tall and strong,
And gained knowledge of the
land to which I belonged.
I knew every corner, hill and
hole,
And as it changed, more
information I stole.
Now on the ground, I see only
surrounding grass,
So now I lay remembering the
past.
My last moment is here now,
you must finally see,
My beautiful children,
remember, you are a tree.
