Escape From Death
I'm running for my life.
I realize that there is nowhere
to turn,
To hide or escape.
A shadow chases me.
Engulfing all of the pure and
happy memories of joy.
It replaces it with pain, sorrow
and despair.
It will soon reach me and
engulf me with the all the
memories too.
It's eating my emotions away.
I start feeling empty.
A cold, dark and frightening
loneliness I have never felt
before.
Hope escapes me,
Leaving me no thoughts of
surviving.
Only death.
This shadow bears its teeth at
me.
Its eyes glow a bright red,
Claws dripping with the blood
of my emotions, memories,
dignity and faith.
However, I can not see its face.
The path is never ending.
It seems that I must run until
my last breathe.
My legs start to become numb,
But I keep running,
nonetheless.
It claws at my leg.
His claw digs inside.
I screamed in horror.
I wake up sweaty and realize I
had been screaming while I
slept.
For my voice was ever so raspy
and dry.
I get up to go wash my face,
And there in the mirror was the
shadow.
Standing ever so closely to me,
Baring its sharp teeth at me.
Its eyes filled with hatred,
amusement and an unusual
thirst for my death.
I become immobile,
And the shadow pulls me into
the darkness where I am to
scream in pain and despair.
There is no hope, in my
returning.
No hope in running away from
what we call, 'Death'.
