Sorry, no. I’m not free this weekend.
I have a whole lot of nothing going on.
A little bit of pointless with just a pinch of lonely.
I told you, I’m busy. Quit asking me.

“Oh no! I’m so packed, I couldn’t make time if I wanted to!”
Said someone with all the time in the world.
Y’know, sitting around, waiting to reject another invite to go out is just so tiring.

”I can’t, I have SO many plans.“
Plans to what? Watch the grass grow?
Maybe after you can watch some paint dry!
And when that’s all done, you can go
back to solemnly staring at the wall.
Sounds like some good plans to me!

Plans? Tomorrow? Yes, so many. Sorry. Bye.
Maybe ask somebody else?
Yeah, that’s a good idea. Go over to her, ask her.

She always makes you smile.
She’ll say yes.
She always says yes.

She’s here again, great.
My weekend? Busy. Real busy.
Glad yours was good. You had fun, I guess.
Yeah, keep rubbing it in. Just like that.
She was MY friend first, by the way.

Maybe that was a bit harsh.
I did that to myself, I can’t be mad.

Oh, you called me. You and her are in the neighborhood.
You’re out of breath, and laughing.
Am I available?
WOW! There’s nothing I love more in the world than a second-hand invite.
I’ll pause my video game and get some towels,
I can hear the torrential downpour through my headphones.
Come on over. I don’t want you to get wet.

Yeah, okay, I lied.
I guess I do have time to do something.
But I don’t think I want to.
I’m sorry.

It stopped raining, the door is over there.
You guys can leave.
I know you both want to.

I’m watching you two walk out the door.
I can’t see but I know you’re both smiling.
I hear a laugh, see a whisper.
I shut the door before I can see her wave.
You guys continue to live your lives.
At least you’re happy.

But, if she leaves, I’ll be here for a while, waiting for you.
