Morning Sickness

Pregnant with intense distress
Fists fly eyes not yet open
Break and fight not fully woken
Metal to metal, bone to wall
Impulse festered in my chest
It did not banish, never left
Hijacked me while I sought rest
A dream of refuge bright, sublime
Intersect worlds from these eyes:
Debussy, rippling tripping giggling gushing
Parrish, fine nimble wings wise fearless
Satie, Magritte pensive odd unflappable
Perhaps I fled into that sun
Absorbing light propelled my run
Absent, Anger felled the land
Infiltrated, locked my hand
Nought left to fear all’s said and done
Just shaking dust and head still spun
Undeniably more than a close one.
