Between Both Worlds Now

What’s it like to build a beautiful sand castle,
Only to see it get washed away each time a wave comes by?
What’s it like when people change faster than time?
All those thousand words in between that get misinterpreted,
And all that blank space which grows farther every time I left,
It’s exhausting, exhausting to always run behind a moving train in the hope to catch it.

What’s it like when you crave the love you leave behind?
What’s it like when the only thing that keeps you together is a blinking bright screen?
All those thousand questions we ask each other all the time,
The thousand questions that always have the same ing answer,
It’s exhausting, exhausting how the distance becomes more and more evident with all the empty talking,

What’s it like to lie so plainly that everything is alright?
What’s it like to pretend to not miss each other?
All those thousand words I want to say, but don’t have the time for,
Why couldn’t it be as it is when I return to them,
Why should a mere wave destroy the only thing that holds me to this planet?

But then that’s how humans are, like an unsettling wave,
And that’s how relations are, as sensitive as a sand castle.
