Everything is Disguisting

Every time I
touch something
I feel the
germs
coating
my fingertips.

Every time I
walk
I feel the germs
soaking
into my feet.

I feel
every
light brush,
touch,
a single graze
of the fingertips,
I feel everything.

I sense the
invisible particles
of saliva droplets
dropping into
my food
while having a casual
dinner
with my friends.

I sense
the dirt in the
air, the
poor ventilation,
I feel trapped.
I can’t breathe.

I feel
disgusted.
Everything
I do becomes
a matter of
“I should
wash my hands,
that’s gross”
It can be as simple
as my bathroom
sink knob
and as complex
as the phone that
I carry with me
each day,
I mean,
to be fair,
I’m not wrong
I know germs follow
me everywhere
and humans
are germs but
my brain is the
epitome of
a germophobe
and an anxious
person’s brain
I don’t want to
overthink
every
atom and molecule
I come across
the days I
step on
this earth;
I just want
to live.
