Brought and Bought
My friend here is rebellious,
That a distant power crashed the country.
I ask of him if he didn’t see the thugs in the same pantry?
The British came masquerading as traders!
Conspired, grew and spread a web.
Oh yes! They did, but how? I protest
Were they not the brown men,
Who sold honour for a false glory?
“Divide and rule”, was what they did
The poor souls perished!
I ask of him one more time,
Did not the brown point guns at the own?
Were not they allowed to say a ‘no’?
Slavery did not come my friend,
It was brought and bought!
Both white and brown,
Did together bring us down.
Some great men could have lived in flesh and blood,
If theirs was not spilt.
