Sonnet 1

Golden it is, pinned upon his chest,
The heart of he who leads his people.
Its colors bright with purity and zest
Its weight a burden, yet he bears its mantle.
He exudes power, labors cheerful,
Speaks with cadence, walks with pride.
Always cautious, and never fearful,
He carries himself with head held high.
To those who seek to seize his power,
And those who hate and curse his name,
With the esteem of lone explorer,
He pushes forward without shame.
And with the fire that in him burns so bright,
He lights the torch that guides us through the night.
