Game Of Chess

In this game of chess, you play with me you my love are the king, the one that can move whichever way that he wants to, the most important piece
The piece that symbolizes the part that you play in our sordid love affair, how you deem yourself as unstoppable as you move across the squares
The squares that portray the pieces of my broken heart, how you weave in and out of the ventricles forever leaving your mark
And I am the queen supposedly the most powerful piece in this game, but I myself know that I’m no queen, only a girl doused in all of your shame

I can move in any direction as many times as I so choose, but the only move that I can’t configure is the one that leads me to you
No, I feel like the rook I can move just like the queen, but I can only go a certain way just like the maze through your heart it seems
No matter which direction I take horizontally or vertically to you, the result is always the same a dead-end road that leads to nothing new
I can play the part of the bishop and make my long strides, but it is never enough to get to where I long to be forever by your side

You play the knight as you jump over me metaphorically, I am always just an afterthought left waiting on the board for you to acknowledge me
For you to just place your fingers upon me and use me for your will, but knowing that forever I will be passed over once again as you leave me in the wake of the wind blowing by freezing me from the chill
No see I know my place on this board of our game of chess and love, and I know where I truly stand, I am just the pawn that is waiting for you to take a hold of me with your strong hand
I am sitting there just awaiting the moment when I can be in your line of sight, but once again sadly I am looked over just the pawn that you use to win the game, the fight

And as the game and our story unfolds here, I am tossed off the board to the side, as you my love call check mate and leave me all alone to cry
The battlefield lies empty, the carcasses are tossed to the wayside, and you my love reign victorious and I am the warring party lying wounded and dying after the fight.
