Consuming Fire

Consuming Fire

There’s just something greater,
there has to be.
Something inside of me
longs for something more.
It’s inexplicable;
this hunger, this thirst.
More than anything, I want it.

The emptiness inside
consumes me
but so does this fire.
It’s a battle inside the depths of my mind,
battling for sanity.

Stagnant, immovable, stuck…
Not knowing how to move forward
yet not wanting to go back
to the way things were.
I need change, I desperately need it.
I NEED something greater,
I KNOW there must be something more
than this meaningless life
in which menial and insignificant
temporary acts are attained
that hold no eternal value.
These temporary pleasures
no longer satisfy me.
They only enrage the fire inside me
to greater levels.
The simple life that holds no purpose
is not the life for me
anymore.
