Happiness – a Game of Hide & Seek
I went to seek happiness but it decided to play,
Hide & seek with me, one moment, it seemed,
To appear & the very next instant, it disappeared
into the abyss,
Thus, it played the game of vanishing act,
It acted like a fickle minded person,
And often changed its course & decision,
But happiness, being intangible,
Kept on fleeting away, but to return frequently,
For I would have liked to trap it almost eternally,
Like the prodigy of ebb & flow,
Sometimes happiness transiently flowed,
To inundate my life with its esteemed presence,
Also at times receded without any admonition,
Like the movement of the sun & the shade,
It gave the effulgence in form of the contentment,
But to fade away soon into the dark,
How ephemeral was its radiance!
Here I desperately urge to you,
O Happiness! Establish yourself
into my life perpetually,
And put an end to this strife of:
The relentless pursuit of hide & seek,
The varying betide of the ebb & the flow,
The persistent contrast of the sun & the
shade,
So that my soul will be blessed,
Whereby my spirit will be invigorated,
By the magnificence of your supreme power.
