Unrequited Love

The love you planted is now fully grown,
in the soil of my heart it has blossomed.
It is a shame that your love has now flown,
into the heart of another’s bosom.

What did she have that I did not offer?
What could she possess that I could not claim?
Is it my fault you turned to another?
Is it my fault? Am I the one to blame?

No! It was you that evoked these emotions.
The words that were spoken deceitful lies.
I wish to kill my love and devotions,
but the flower that blossomed will not die.

I hope in time this blossom will wither.
Die a cruel death from your loveless winter.

Hi Joy I think the hardest part is knowing that nothing will ever be the same, betrayal cuts deep into the inner depths of our souls leaving a hole inside of us wider then the oceans, but as the seasons change so will our thoughts because we have been taught not to make the same mistakes over and over again .Thank you for sharing this powerful poem with all of us. Feel free to stop by anytime, Dean
