End of Service

I didn't turn on my radio today
I won't have to answer a call
There'll be no lights and sirens
No task that seems too big or small
My services won't be needed
I should have slept easy last night
Today I put down my badge and gun
My handcuffs, my pepper spray, and my flashlight
I say goodbye to my other family
The one who shared those lonesome shifts
That only led to complaints
Not compliments or gifts
Some say it's a calling
Which is starting to ring true
Because inside I still hear you
My brothers and sisters in blue
But when I walk out the door today
Only my worries on my mind
May the burden rest on someone else's shoulders
I'm 10-42 for good this time

Yes it was...low point in life tends to generate good work if you express through words

How sad and a bit grief-stricken. Look back and be proud.
