This Way

I walk with my dog in the morning
our feet are soft on the earth
my gaze lifts, like my heart
while his nose reads the forest

We regard the trail
before deciding which way to go
“This way,” his blue eye glances off to the left
his brown eye catches the rising sun
 a purple flower winks

This has such a pleasant feel. The tale and the words you used a harmonious match.

Really nicely done. This has a whimsical feel to it and to me, the slightest hint of autumn. I can picture this journey through the trees with your canine companion. Very fun to read.
