My Words Spewed Out

My words spewed out
Tumbling uncontrollably
With force of rolling thunder
Cutting like a bolt of lightning.
I reacted before I heard what was said,
Before I had a chance to think about
What I would say.
My anger flared like a dragon breathing fire,
My heart pounded in my chest,
My eyes a sinister glare.
It's unbelievable that I was so out of control so quickly.
I treated the situation as a crisis,
When it was nothing but a misunderstanding.
How will the damage be repaired,
The words spoken in anger given a chance to be explained?
Will the apology be accepted, forgiveness offered?
Please Lord soften her heart,
Let her see me through your eyes
And give me a second chance.
