Spirit

When I think of my feet and legs
I remember them tired from the long walk home
When I think of stomach and chest
I think of them tight with anxiety
When I think of my arms
I remember wearing long sleeves even in the summer
To cover the bruises
When I think of my hands
I remember you crushing my fingers with yours
When I think of my face
I think of my eyes sad and tired .

But when I think of my head
I have to ignore
The clouds
And remember
Though you broke many things
You did not break my spirit
