Shadows Come To Visit

Shadows come to visit
The sad lines on a weary face
Deepen and age this visage
The shadows are here
Nothing within, and nothing beyond
The eyes of the mind
Remember what used to be
Memories of happiness
Where now only tears of loss remain
The distant light fades further
As the tears burn tracks
In a once seamless face
What is left now,
A broken, hollow being
Resigned to a life of cold
The absence of heart
Knowing no home
For home is made
Only in love
