The Storm

The Storm

The window opens slowly,
a head peeks outside
feeling of raindrops on the face,
as lightning flashes by
her light is bright and blinding,
she strikes without a warning.
And after she has found her prey the thunder comes a roaring.
He is strong and bold,
you know that he is coming.
But even when he does you are surprised
for he sneaks in dark and daring.
The retreat begins and the bed becomes a refuge.
For the heart beating out of the chest
One wish comes to mind
for it all to come to rest.
But the lightning keeps flashing,
and the thunder neglects to cease.
Because that's just what happens.
Our eyes close and we try to sleep.
