What Do You See

What do you see?
His words still haunt me to this day 
6 years ago I followed the biggest trend 
Because his words crept in my head reminding me I wasn’t “beautiful enough” 
I picked up the brush thinking it would give me more self-esteem 
But left me with more insecurities 
Looking in the mirror still not satisfied   
I became so consumed into making myself into what he considered “good enough”
 I cried knowing the brush won’t fix my 
imperfections 
Ugly donkey was what he saw
