The Archer's Quivered Arrows

I've feasted at your table
Have tasted your sweet wine
Made love to you at midnight
Our bodies well entwined

But your heart is like a castle
Surrounded by a wall
Guarded by your archers
Who are at your beck and call

Each archer's quivered arrows
Have tips of poison words
Never know when they shoot them
Though every word is heard

If one don's their armor
They may miss their mark
If you forget to put it on
Poison always hits the heart

Say that you need no one
As you sit upon your throne
Thinking "I can rule my kingdom
So much better all alone"

Well, I've been in that castle
When I let my armor down
Just as quick you closed the gate
To protect your tarnished crown

Every refuge has a price
It's how much you want to pay
Life may have done you wrong
Still, you get older every day

You are not the only one
Who has lost at love before
So get your ass off your throne
At least open up that door

Let Me Paint For You

I Am A Painter

But I need not a brush
for I paint with words

Words that reflect
every color of the rainbow

I can make the sun shine
on a cloudy dreary day

I can change a parched, dry field
into a bonnie field of clover

I can make the pitter patter
of rain drops come alive

For I paint with words

I will let you travel
to far off places

Feel things deep inside
that you never felt before

I can fill you with the wonder
of a passionate love affair

Yes I am a painter
without a brush

So let me paint for you

Let me make you sigh
Let me make you cry
Let me make you fall in love again

For I am the painter without a brush

Her Name Was Isabella

Her name was Isabella
She came from New Orleans
Hair as black a raven's back
Eyes of deepest emerald green

Said she was a sorceress
On this she had been weaned
Had no doubt that she was
Exactly whom she seemed

Took my hand , flipped some cards
Then gave me an eerie grin
Felt a chill run up my spine
And a tingling on my skin

Said the futures rather cloudy
As she looked in her crystal ball
The cards are inconclusive
Pronounced with a Cajun drawl

But I have a magic mirror
Tells the truth about your past
All the loves you've had before
And reasons they didn't last

Can take you to the future
Only if you ask it to
For it's a magic mirror
It's magic just for you

Handed me a chalice
Told me to take a drink
To enter this magic mirror
I would have to shrink

Put the chalice to my lips
Then I thought anew
Should I really take a sip
Of this sorceress brew

Held my nose, closed my eyes
Then I took a drink
Felt myself go dizzy
As I began to shrink

Then I saw a rabbit hole
Alice beckoned me to come
Couldn't get my feet to move
For my body it was numb

Then a hand reached out
Pulled me right inside
That's when I really knew
I'm on a magic mirror ride

Think of Me

Think of me today
If you do I will feel you

A feeling in back of my mind
coming forward

Spreading a smile on my face
leaving a warm memory

And a hope and desire
for our next meeting

I will know the touch
of your mind on mine

Come to me today
in your thoughts

Then I will send you mine

He Was By My Side

Climbed up on the mountain
Fingers almost touched the sky
Even had to duck my head
As a cloud came tumbling by

Felt I was invincible
Amongst the blue and gray
Maybe God had rested here
On that holy seventh day

I could see for miles
Air was clear and bright
Sun shining through the trees
Was a visual delight

Leaves they seemed to sing
A song upon the breeze
While floating to the ground
Asking " Catch me if you please"

Then I saw an eagle
Soaring in the sky
Looked at me suspiciously
Giving me that eagle eye

Then a little chipmunk
Came by to say hello
Cheeks stuffed with acorns
Think he's wanting me to go

Saw a white tailed deer
With big brown Bambie eyes
Quickly turn and run away
Her, I really did surprise

So I will take this day
Arrest it deep inside
All the beauty that I've seen
Cause He was by my side

Through My Eyes of China Blue

Sun now rising in the east renews its vows with mother earth. It's rays regenerating life dark of night so selfishly stole. As I absorb its warming rays my mind reverts to you. Like the sun, you made my darkest hours turn into just a memory. Bringing warmth where once cold roamed freely through my soul. Tears I once shed are now like crystals flowing from a chandelier. Reflecting every hue of a rainbow passing through my eyes of china blue. No longer the words "I love you" seem meaningless coming from my lips. You have shown me there is warmth in my heart. Feelings once trapped deep within me, with no portal to escape, are now released from their cold, lifeless existence. You've made my heart, my mind, my whole being, rise as if a Phoenix from a dark dreaded sleep. Like that sun rising in the East, you have renewed my life again.

My Life Is Unraveling

A Metamucil Moment" Woke up this morning Feeling rather blue Ran out of Metamucil Don't know what to do Muscles really aching Joints are creaky sore I ran out of Ben-Gay Have to run down to the store Blood pressure medicine Seems too have disappeared Can't remember if I used it all My tummy's feeling kinda of weird Where did I put my glasses Can't see a gosh darn thing Can't drive with out them Now the phone it starts to ring Who would be calling me Should I answer it or leave It's a damn telemarketer Now I'm really peeved Do you need your carpets cleaned A written pitch I'd heard before No!! But could use some Metamucil Hung up and headed out the door My car is almost out of gas The Kona coffee kicking in Don't think I need that Metamucil As my stomach starts to spin Ran back to the bathroom In a hurry I did run Found there wasn't any T.P. Grrrr !!! This is not a lot of fun But did find my Ben-Gay Wish I found my glasses first Thought I brushed my teeth with Colgate Now I'm really at my worst My blood pressure's rising Still can't find my med's Think I'm gonna give up I'm going back to bed

Mary's Place

There's a place that I go
When my day is hard to face
I just have to cross a bridge
Then I'm here at Mary's place

Mary's is a special place
That any one can go
One can write or sing a song
Or sit back and watch the show

There may be a unicorn
Or pixies spreading dust
If you see a mermaid
To swim with her you must

You can find a table
To share a glass of wine
Listen to some music
While you enjoy the rhyme

I've had my morning coffee
There with a friend of mine
Even shed a tear or two
As we shared a written line

They'll be words of love
Broken hearts, there are a few
I have found both of them
Even left there one or two

Don't forget to read the smiles
Heartbreaks aren't the only things
You will have the biggest grin
When you hear how Mary sings

Will be many rainbows
While in this land of bliss
Willows never weep there
If you share a loving kiss

Now if you see a dragon
Fear not oh maiden fair
Mary has Tarnished Knight
You know he'll be right there

Let your mind go wandering
For new people you will meet
When you cross Mary's Bridge
It will be a special treat
