You'Ve Got To Tell Your Story

Walls explode, windows crash
Lightning in the middle, ceremoniously mash
the safety of my core, the distressed world of my being
that has given me a reality, gazing into the sky, seeing
the truth written in heavenly bodies and locked in a celestial
dance.

Wandering through the maze of triumph and defeat
Playing tug-of-war with every soul I meet
Straddling between two worlds, navigating a dangerous cycle
Wondering if the dilemma I’m in needs the presence of
Archangel Michael and the ambassadors of heaven who uncover
the remains of my shattered soul.

The prevailing unveiling of my unfinished tale,
Which has weathered every tempestuous and stormy gale
Rears its furious head and says in all its glory
“You can’t die now, you’ve got to tell your story!”
This echo from my center reminds me of a winter
that taught me and brought me to my knees, not wanting
to pay the spiritual fees of my accidental mistakes and coincidental
blunders.

A roughening up, a toughening up of my disheveled being
captures the root of my anxiety and serves it up seeing my
compliance, asking for holy alliance with the creator to make
sense of this newness of life, absence from strife, that I am not
familiar with nor ready to receive in the midst of being unprepared
for the blessings which lie ahead.

How can this be? I’m not ready, you see? This new thing, this true thing
that comes to the light! It feels wonderful, yet so scary,
so overwhelming, I still want to bury, the feelings that fight through the
dirt and the darkness to let me know that you are worth more than your violent past so stop wearing the mask of self-hatred, deceit, unworthiness, and defeat. You are not what has happened to you, not what someone has done to you! With a few more climbs and a few more chimes, the truth won’t be so gory...

The time has come, the nightmare is over…YOU’VE GOT TO TELL YOUR STORY!

Desire

Red lips, curvaceous hips
a sway in her walk tips
the scales and leaves me
wondering how I ended up
here.

A chance meeting, a persuasive
greeting, entices me to
give in, to live in the moment
and enjoy the ride presented
by this illusive female form,
challenging the norm of my everyday
existence.

I wonder about giving into this peculiar
blunder which erodes my being and leaves
me seeing only the desires of my flesh.
Leaving me a mess of what once was,
introducing me to strife I never could fathom,
Turning me into a mere phantom of myself.

I question my decision while she makes an
incision into my soul and gives me the illusion
of ecstasy, while sitting next to me whispering
lies with her beautiful eyes, hypnotizing my loins
and taking me some place I don’t want to go.

Angel of light, using all of my might to release the
grip of this desire, this temptation and regret
Wishing I never met this being, because now I’m
seeing the blood on the floor, the knife in her hand
and the stab in my heart .

My life flashes before me and implores me to stay alive
to grab for the last vestige of existence I so desperately
need, so, anxiously I feed upon the last seconds of life
giving me a hope I see in the distance but never fully recovering
from this instant, in time.

And now, I scratch at this coffin, hoping someone will hear me,
So I can warn them of her charms, and those deceptive arms.
Desires so maliciously tempting and sweet,
Death is now the bedmate I must unfortunately meet!

That Sweet Man

She says “He treats me so well!”
I say “I can hardly tell!”
She says “No one understands him
but me!”
I say “Sista, I hear you, but why are
you on the floor with bloody knee. . .caps?”

The rhymes and the reasons given by women
Allow them to mistakenly drink the vermin
Embodied in the shape and size of a hue-man
Designed by the creator to love and protect them.

Now everyone please, don’t get me wrong.
All men are not like this.
There are some that will give you joy.
And bring to you pure bliss!

It can be tricky, sometimes.
The love you want and the love you yearn for
Can be the very thing you’re sacrificed and
maliciously burned for.

The winding and binding mysteries of love
Can give you a glimpse of heaven above.
But if you’re not careful and don’t choose well
The choices you make can take you straight
to hell!

Every day is a challenge, a toss-up if you will,
To examine the faces of the men you meet
But in reality it’s simple, just remember one thing
Everything that's pretty, ain’t sweet!

Symphonic Cacophony

A kaleidoscope of transcendent rhythms
Envelop my soul from the well-spring of a mystical
and majestic refrain.

Notes exalted in the heart of the awakened one
Only to be extinguished by the cruel masters of
memory and time, which give way to a dystopian
perspective incessant and ominous in its vexation.

The purposeful formation of songs leave an
indelible mark upon a hopeful spirit, wishing,
waiting for that promise in the hidden
recesses of the earth’s core.

Joyful melodies from the fifth dimension bring an unexpected
solace which soothes and captures an unshakable truth
behind her existence, beside the travesty of the scattered
notes from a wandering, wavering and diminished heart.

The final call from an ancient composition propels the exhausted
woman to continue on, to push, press, proceed, persist,
Advancing as a general, engaging in the warfare deep
inside her womb, expelling the myths and mythologies
which imprisoned her, cajoled her, deceived her.

And now, the final rhythm belongs to her for this joyful moment
The songs of a thousand summers burst forth and bring her
into a new dawn, a new reality, a new way of life!

Mirrors Srorrim

Loving family members gather around the
bed of a dying soul, awaiting transformation

Fiftieth wedding anniversary, twists and turns
A marriage ceremony in a quaint town
A college degree conferred upon the star athlete
Homecoming queen
Cheerleading team
Marching band
Dark or light tan

Youthful angst navigating a treacherous world
Trying to find meaning amongst cruel jabs and
Malicious blows
Innocence stolen as fast as the rising wind
As swift as an eagle
Jubilant Cries
Truthful lies
Fall leaves
Evergreen trees

A nightly visitor in the form of a train drowns the screams and
cries of a helpless soul looking for solace, for peace
No one comes
No help arrives
Painful moments
usher in a new dawn
The soul of an undiscovered love
Looming on
The horizon

Loving family members gather around the bed of a woman, pregnant
with hope, waiting to be born.

Mindless Love

Centered on the tipping point of an unsure foundation
Time transfers the vibration of light from a closed receptacle
I see a bright star descending into the depths of unchartered
lands, chaotic waves and hurricane force winds, gorging its roots
into the dirt, the gravel, the impenetrable rock of stubbornness
and angst.
Mimicking a seed planted in the center of the earth, it begins
the journey…………..
