"a shining star"
a shining star you shall always be
a jewel in the cosmos that I see
like the snow that glistens white
like the moon that shines bright
you bring out the best in me
when you stand before the ocean blue
feel a gentle embrace intended just for you
when you see a pearl or shell in the sand
know it is me taking you by the hand
know your heart and soul will renew
a grand piano or a single guitar
a source of strength from afar
with words that I have none to give
with hope and love may light live
a shining star is what you are

"more than an athlete"
from the moment of birth you stood tall
with balance and strength you ran strong
for the love of freedom you were above all
it wasn't that you were a champion to rule
no other compared or could sing your song
trumpets sounded for you to hear
at that moment the sword was near
more than an athlete you remain Secretariat
three fine races were yours for the winning
demonstrating power excellence endurance
you set both stage and show from the beginning
with fullness of wonderment heart and eagerness
to this day your legacy is held with reverence
although one other ran your race to fame
your body of strength is a burning flame
more than an athlete you remain Secretariat

"ode to the little one"
on this night I sit and stare
to my surprise such illumination I see
a glorious clear black sky
countless shining stars
showing themselves for hopes and dreams
such glitters this night know not why
they reveal no resolve for my life or path
in my heart I know they're placed for me
they whisper your strength is true
giving recognition of pain gone through
I continue to stare and hear their call
both sky and star tell me to ask not why
why black clouds and life have neglected me
tenderly whispering this you are not defined
I see the changing sky as moments pass
ever gently it moves and shifts back to me
telling me worry not little one you're never alone
never have you been or will be
one day all will be answered and revealed
until then hold strong be strong be you
continue on little one through pain or tears

"universal flower"
universal flower speak to me
open your light of love
play the timeless game of
loves me loves me not
as each petal is removed
have it end loves me
in my heart I know this to be true
I turn to you today for your voice
on this day of oneness all is right
I sit before you revealing this wish
somewhere someone sits with the same desire
as the universal flower stands front and center
as the petals lessen one by one
I will not ask to end on loves me
we both know I do to the end of time
thus the light of love will forever shine
until tomorrow when we come before you as one
hold true the universal flower under the sun

"the mighty sea is she"
mesmerizing is the body of ocean blue
bestowed upon me are sights and sounds
more than tides rolling to and fro
she is the mighty sea apart from earth and sky
beyond comprehension as I glance and stare
this wonder continues far and wide to infinity
more than the measure of water
the mighty sea is she being a world like no other
by day feel her warmth and touch of silk
by night experience her voice and power
more than what I could ever trace
she is the ocean blue that sparkles like a star
somewhere between golden sands and blue sky
somewhere between the shore and open sea
find me breathing living in wonderment
the ocean blue is she hosting a playground of life
for all her tides with sights and sounds
for all her warmth by day and power by night
this body of water calls to me with every reason
still the mighty sea is she holding all my dreams

what you see is all that I am
living life in a world unknown
unknown to you and the unseen
such diamonds in the sky
such rainbowed bubbles that float
float always in a world for me
I'm a butterfly of a different color
a colored pearl veiling shades of pink
perhaps you somehow can't see
when you find the truth and life
a life that belongs and stands tall
you will then finally see all that I am

on wings of freedom ride with me once more
we'll travel under the sun and light
we'll breathe clean fresh air
more than this together we'll be
to make one understand is fully difficult
for until I'm seen I will never be known
known to us both as a soul of freedom
a strength of power and gentle as a child
brush me saddle me and get me prepared
