My Grandad

My grandad was there when I was little;
My grandad would always make me giggle;
Telling jokes, stories and tales, my grandads love has never failed.

In Alder Street or at the flat, my grandads love, it was just that.

The market stall, to buy and sell. I'd always love the tales he'd tell.
From cheeky children, to hagglers galore, you mess with him, he'd show you the door.

On Christmas Day, when I was small, he loved the games, he'd play them all.
Pass the parcel he loved the best, even when he wore a dress.

He loved my brother, yes that's you.
When he came to visit, he'd visit you too.
From birthdays and Christmas, even just passing. I loved the sound of him just gassing.

He loved his whiskey, I would say cheers.
But I'm pretty sure he owes dad a few beers.

He loved his beard, perhaps too much.
He'd always stop mum from getting his cut.

He loved his children, his grandchildren too.
As for nanna, how could I forget you.
Well well nanna, what can I say.
You are the one with whom he lay.
After years of marriage, I know it's true, that grandad was, the one for you.

I've finished grandad, I've nothing more to say.
Except that I hope, you're proud of us today.

Soulmate

Have you met yours?
Your soulmate, your angel?
Unlike Cinderella - this it is no fable

Everyone has one
You just never know
A friend, a stranger
You just you never know

Keep your eyes open
You mind open too
One day they will
They'll make their way to you

Friendship

Friends are like stars
They sparkle they shine
You may only see them from time to time

Can't always see them
But know they are there
Friendships can drift in the cool night air

Drifting apart
One day they will meet
Under the blanket of the satin like sheet

Butterfly

Butterfly butterfly flying high up in the sky
So delicate and graceful your colours catch my eye

You float you glide with friends either side
Maybe on day you'll see the seaside

Out in the sun, the warm summer air
I look on in wonder "How did you get there"

With bright coloured wings
Like petals on flowers
I look and I gaze
I could do this for hours

The Darkened Room

Beautiful and vibrant
The flame it laps the air
Colourful yet wonderful
A mesmerising glare

The flame now as it flickers
Brightness of it thickens
Aroma it now drippeth

Darkened shadows cast
Upon the lonely wall
A dimly lit room
The flame it stands so tall

The Stranger

She's there
Staring straight at me
Her eyes filled with emptiness
I've seen her before
Yet she is unrecognisable

She's here everyday
Always the same
No expression or word does she utter
Just looks and stares

What does she want?
Why is she here?
Time after time
Year after year

A troubled aura surrounds her
I hold her gaze
Leaning in closer desperately trying to catch glimpse
Of who she is and what troubles her so

Our eyes locked
No break or waver
Suddenly I shudder...
Instantly she does the same

Startled I step back
Instantly she does the same

I scratch my head
Confused and dazed
Instantly she does the same

Looking around
Can anyone see?
Who is this stranger looking at me?

I lean in again
And soon I see
The stranger I'm looking at
Would appear that it's me

Life

Lonely is life
That's what I decide
Through thought and word
But mainly strife

Life is cruel
You stand alone
It's hard to but, you must console

When life it hurts
Please know it stops
It may not now, but one day stops

Don't cry, or shy
It's all worth while

I don't know when
But soon you'll see
How simply wonderful, life can be

A Nightly Walk

The cool crisp air flows softly on my face
The crunch of the leaves grows louder every pace
Moonlight shines down I feel it's soft embrace
Walking a little quicker now, I begin to make haste

The shadows of the night begin to circle round
Quickly quickly quickly I'm lost and can't be found

A Weightloss Journey - a Life Changing Dream

Shortness of breath, the struggle with stairs
The paranoid thoughts, of judgemental stares

Tomorrow I'll start, next week I will too.
The person you're fooling can be only you.

You carry on, each day just the same.
Every week again and again

No planning, no prepping, just take and away.
Spiralling down, delay underway
Hoping and dreaming, I'll do this one day!

One month later, a burger, a pie
Feeling low, as life passes by
Outstretched clothes, low confidence too
It's now your decide to do this for you!

You take to the web, to find nearest group
Hoping and praying "Please not only soup"!

The hardest part? First step through the door. Always remember, who you're doing this for.

You meet all the members and go through the plan.
At this point you realise, "Oh yes I can".

Now weighing and measuring, healthy A & B
The change is incredible for all to see.

The feeling of pride, the spring in your step.
It's now you can't wait for what life brings next.

The Enchanted Apple

Walking through the woods, enchanted and tall,
I came across an apple tree, huge in full form
Closer and closer, I gaze and I stare
At all of its splendour, no branch was left bare

Reaching out a hand, I stretch and I lean
Trying to pick an apple, that’s red and not green
Stretching and straining, I nearly trip up
One more attempt now, my eyes wide shut

Step backwards do I, again and again
Looking down at my hand, what did it contain?
Shiny in colour, lustrous and red
If I am Snow White, will I end up dead?

I gaze at the apple, lean in take a bite,
I hope and I pray, this isn’t goodnight
Confusion consumes me, I descend into dream
But where is my prince, oh what does this mean?

Time has now passed, a week or a year?
I’m trapped in my dream, I shed a small tear
Hoping and praying, each day just the same
Then one day my prince, he’s here look he came
