Soldier of Pain

In the beginning before you, there was only the desolate darkness.
Just like in the Bible, two people were created for each other.
The creation of a beautiful paradise just for you and I.
To spend our precious time together in lovely bliss forever high.
The only differences are that it ain't called Eden, I'm not Adam, you're not Eve.
And a place where evil cannot enter to taint your pure and jovial soul.
So worry not about the evil snake because I'm there to fend it off.
Your safety and sanity are my utmost priority for eternity.
God gave me full responsibility to ensure this world does not fall into calamity.
I shall share all the burden that you carry so that you can be happy.
To ensure that you and I can sustain our dream to be happy together.
Because only when you're happy then can that dream truly become our future.
For this is my holy duty as your soldier of pain.

Notes
This is a slightly modified verse from a rap I wrote (under the same title of this poem/verse) dedicated to my clinically depressed ex-girlfriend whom I loved dearly to cheer her up but ultimately made her feel worse for some reason and she broke up with me. The verse is about me trying my absolute best to protect my ex from all the pain or sadness that she may be susceptible to due to her depression as making her happy was one of my promises to her, which I failed to honor...

I'm not here for sympathy but I'm posting it here so that at least someone else can read it and hopefully enjoy it. :-)

Oh and it's not meant to be religious either since both of us are not, I just used the Bible as an inspiration for this verse.

The Promise

Fast forward to the mysterious gift known as the present.
I finally accepted her into my monotonous life's content.
I thought my knowledge of survival made me super duper clever.
But even the cleverest has flaws that can make em ever wiser.
Acknowledging it is good but patching it up is even better.
Through her them flaws got exposed like there's no tomorrow.
But as it showed, I didn't anticipate it would bring her so much sorrow.
The amount of pain I brought can only be reconciled by the power of time.
I made a promise that I’ll never leave her for anyone else for a lifetime.
No matter how short we’ve only been together as partners in crime.
I intend to keep that promise regardless of the challenges that may chime!
So baby, I’ll be right here waiting for you through rain or shine.

Author's notes
This is extracted from a verse from another rap I wrote under a different name, the intent of it however, is much like the Soldier of Pain poem I posted.

Hope you guys enjoy it. :)

War

Whence diplomacy fails mankind.
Soldiers amassed with patriotic duties to fulfill.
Some willing, some underaged, some desperate.
Weaponry and vehicular production overdriven.
Military strategies drafted that await execution.
Prayers flood the heavens, farewell letters penned vigorously.
None prepared for what’s to come, sweet talk is all they have.
Come dawn, they depart for the frontlines.

Unto the battlefield where the enemy lies.
One step forward and all hell breaks loose.
Gunshots pierce, artillery’s shrapnel far-reaching.
Mangled corpses sprawled for families to mourn.
Commands roared but not followed for fear fuels the men.
Chaos ensues ruthlessly with no end in sight.
Death and blood saturates the gruesome battlefield.
Oh dear God, do you hear the cries of sorrow?
Oh dear God, do you see your land blood-brimmed?
Who will you aid when good and evil are indiscernible?

Countries conquered, engulfed by terror and atrocities.
Air raids never ending, bomb shelters becoming the second home.
Civilians contemned, slaughtered like pigs, experimented on like rats.
Prisoners of War starving to the bones as they labor restlessly.
Anguish ever present but naught can be done to rid it.
Oh dear God, do you witness the atrocious brutality?
Oh dear God, will you show them mercy and end their misery?

Homeward, anxiety ravages mercilessly like a plague.
Will my beloved return for college?
Will my darling return to love?
Will my dearest return to tuck me in?
Answers undetermined for life preaches uncertainty.
Politicians stand unscathed whilst comrades lay crippled.
In the perpetual bid for peace, the world drowns in blood.

Chameleon

Red, red, red is all the man ever sees of his family.
With all that's going on, the orange-faced man has been unhinged.
He could've shone like yellow but he's too busy hiding from the crows.
Oh look who's here, the wise-looking man in blue has joined the queue
Right behind up comes the man in indigo looking all depressed.
When the mysterious man in violet arrived, everyone disappeared.

I'm a chameleon with the skin of a thousand rainbows
The voice of a thousand instruments.
The identity of a thousand people
The genuine me lays beneath a thousand meters.
For the dread of predators still lingers.

Notes
This poem is dedicated to all the people who are/has been bullied as it mostly reflects what became of me after being bullied. I no longer choose to reveal who I really am, but rather decided to behave like other people depending on various situations in fear that others may prey on my true self. The first 7 lines are of the colors of a rainbow to signify hope and the several outcomes of being bullied while the lines after is mostly what became of that man, aka me.

Hope you guys enjoy it and don't ever let bullies dictate your life, stand up to them with your friends and family, don't face it alone. :)

Disparate Matrimony

Unity of two whilst same gender.
For love, for kinship, for the future.
Tied by the very hands of Destiny.
Of minute difference to the society.
Yet recognized as a monstrosity.
By those fueled by animosity.

The government goes with the flow.
Their people’s mindset they follow.
Perception still stuck in perpetual limbo.
Seen as despicable freaks of nature.
Freaks who defy the traditionalists’ culture.
It’s only a matter of time, said Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
The Heart of Acceptance lies solely within you.

Instilled with bravery, birthed the dot of Pink.
Freedom to love is their cause.
Persuasion of people is their real test.
Flaked by many, zealously they persist.
Every year unfailingly at Hong Lim Park.
The rally of Pink is held until dark.

On the other hand, are the religious.
Those that deem homosexuality odious.
Christians don white unto the rally of Pink.
Hopeful that the Pink will doublethink.
That the sins are condemned by a powerful being.
Besides the Christians, the Muslims are in this too.
But the others seem to be cool.

Notes
Just a disclaimer, this poem is not meant to rile up any hostile feelings and what not. I wrote it for my school project a few months back about the different perceptions of homosexual marriage in Singapore and nothing more.

The Blood Gem

Love’s dominance storms,
Within the precious blood gem.
Nothing it cannot best.

Your Lips

Pinkish red, reddish pink, their radiance phenomenal.
Curves aplenty, arched up reveals my beloved.
Fall down and I shall lift them up from the ground.
Sadly, dark clouds in white lay claim to them.
Within three months, they will come for them regardless.
As your lips turn pale, my heart utters a wail.
Stiffen that upper lip, everyday I will sing you to sleep.
Until a touch of cold, your lips turned gold.
I am fortunate enough to kiss them a final goodbye.
Their radiance and warmth will never escape my memories.
For I shall long to see them when I cross that road.

Lil Sally

Voices in my head are babbling everything vicious.
I can't take it anymore, Life has been a tyrant to us for so many years.
Time to let loose and not let the super reign over us with his fears.
Yay, daddy! I wanna go to the park! I've never been there before!
Not a problem, my dear, we shall go to the park...
Huffing and puffing, Lil Sally hears her very first victim.
Who be the unlucky fella, we're gonna call him Tim.
Sadly, he ain't got a clue what's coming at him.
I plunged Lil Sally right through the side of his sternum.
Daddy, daddy!
Hearing his screams makes my atoms jump like rabbits!
Looking at the gushing blood makes my mind go rabid!
Feeling his blood splatter makes my heartbeat rapid!
Smelling the fragrance of his blood makes me wanna taste it!
Tasting his adolescent blood makes my stomach lust for more of it!
My sweet little boy, don't resist your beautiful death, embrace it!
Your mummy and daddy would've loved to see how magnificent it is!
One stab, two stabs, three stabs, blast it, I'm just gonna slice and dice you in half!
Look at my fine cutting, just like my daddy, a transcending psychopath!
Oh sharp little baby, won’t you take a breather for a minute?
No, daddy, I want to savor every delicious droplet!
Alright baby, enough talking, how bout I grab you that bloodthirsty shiny goblet?

Notes
This verse (adapted from one of my WIP rap) is made as an outlet for me to vent my frustration so I'm sorry if it in anyway disgusts, offends or even scares you. But if you're interested, the poem is about a personified machete named Lil Sally and the wielder, or "Daddy", who is a psychopath that could no longer deal with life's problems and also considers Lil Sally to be his life companion, and their experience with their first cold-blooded murder of a young boy.

A Jaded Soul's Redemption

Forlorn innocent, Darkness engulfed.
Bolder it grew, emotions it quelled.
Darkness ruled him, casualties it amassed.
Amidst the agony, benevolent souls befriended.
Light’s genesis, faint emotions it rekindled.
Yet Light by its lonesome stood frailly.
An enchanting partner it awaits longingly.
Alluring in sight, vehement in presence.
A celestial Shine, with then Darkness yields.
Will thou empower the Light and be my celestial Shine?

Rain

The rain falls slow, your emotions dances to the flow.
Just like you, stormy clouds bring upon vigorous tears.
As you recall a punch to your tummy and a boot to your heart.
Every drop pains the masses of concern ever more.
Yet oblivious to the rain as they shelter within your heart.
Grant them a peak out, with empathy as they gaze.
Grant them an exit, umbrellas they shall provide with no hesitance.
For the poor child that sits by the road under the heavy rain.
To what end will you let the rain stop falling?
To what end will you banish the sinister clouds?
To what end will you let the sun shine ever brightly?
