Whisper To Me

I sit here in silence staring at my phone.
Hoping to hear her familiar ring.
I wish she was with me, but I’m on my own,
Wanting to hear her more than anything.
Why can’t I hear her heart whisper to me?

If I’m lucky, I see her once a day,
Keeping to herself, silent as always.
She’s surrounded by people, lost in fray,
Yet she commands the room, and it obeys.
Why can’t I hear her heart whisper to me?

I see her walking calmly down the hall,
Her eyes fixated on the muted ground.
She does not seem to notice me at all,
Passing me without a glance nor a sound.
Why can’t I hear her heart whisper to me?

Better Man

I can still remember that fateful day,
Despite all my love, you turned me away.
Your cold, callous heart turned mine black and blue;
You did not care at all, did you? Did you?
A whole year has passed yet I am still shocked
By all of the emotions that you unlocked.
They leak from my soul like a chilly rain,
Jealousy, hate, fear, lust, and crippling pain.
Each one wraps around my mind like laid rope,
Strangling my will to love, crushing all hope.
I’m in pain, but you do not feel the same;
Instead you smile at thought of his name.
You see him, and jump straight into his arms,
Only now giving in to love’s sweet charms.
He gets the love that I so desired,
While I stand alone, dejected and tired.

Goodnight, Goodnight

I just hope that you understand.
Things did not go the way I planned.
I waited all day and all night.
Just to see you and make things right.
But the light in your heart went out.

With my guitar, I played for you.
Through song, I proved my love was true.
I wrote to you every day.
Hoping that you were still okay.
But the light in your heart went out.

I’ll be strong, but I can’t be sure;
Despite all, my love is still pure.
I ache when I see you this way,
Searching the heart for words to say.
But the light in your heart went out.

The Waiting

All I do is wait.
The clock melts before my eyes
but it never ticks.

My Rubicon

Whisper her name.
Let the word flow through me.
Now say it again.
It fosters a melody so sweet and proud.
I’m overcome by gentle dreams.

“Veronica”

Voices inside me come and go.
They cry out for time and space.
And a chance to make things right,
But I’m afraid to see her again.
I don’t want to fail her.
Not again.

“Empty your mind.”
“Don’t hide from what is honest.”

I’m suffocating in suspense.
What am I in her eyes now?
Dare I ask?
An answer delivers my destiny.
Ecstasy if yes.
Exile if no.

The Rubicon stands before me.

Sinking

Lost at sea.
The water is my own.
Drowning in my emotions,
I gasp for a breath of air,
Swallowing dreams,
Juggling time.

Dark vibrations ripple toward me.
Confidence drifts away,
Doubt invades my mind. .
My thoughts grow shallow.
The water remains deep.
I’m overwhelmed.

Waves of hope rise.
Then crash.
Fortune evaporates
Love is denied fruition.
And so I sink.
The water claims its prize.
