Song of the Corn

Fields flat and barren, hungry for seed, thirsty for life
As far as the eyes can see the last whispers of winter still on her virgin lips
Begging for toil, yearning for care
                                     Lost in a timeless moment
waiting for the warm breath of spring to once again brush over her face
                                      to call on her motherhood
She cries, the children of the earth hunger, let me take them to my breast
give them nourishment, for is this not my purpose
The many silos stand in tribute to her labors
farm houses and barns sit as oasis in a great desert
From these sands come the hopes of tomorrow
In chorus they sing an endless refrain, a song of today and yesterday
A symphony of faith for the future
Faith that the rains will fall on her strings, that once again her music will be heard
echoing to the corners of the earth
                                            Heads bow in praise
                                               another chorus
                                            the song of the corn

Birthdays

Birthdays are but the waves of life.

As each tide comes and goes
all things we have written in the sand the past year are swept away.

It is now time to build tall castles and fill them with dreams
so when the next wave comes and our castles disappear,
on our hearts the dreams will remain,

                                                                                Always.

The Dance of Souls

Within you I find an ocean of pure waters
My tongue thirsts to drink of your love, to dip my soul into your magic waters
my arms yearn to embrace your spirit, to leave time behind
to journey beyond desires where our love knows no beginning or ending
Kisses will be as grains of sand strewn across the universe
endless in number, but truly only one that never ends
The sharing of spirits, hopes, and dreams will be our breath
Faith and trust will not know of turmoil
all doubt will be buried in an unmarked grave
Our life a blessing to be nurtured as a child
To see myself within your smile as you are the mother my own
Your heart a reflection of my own
Your voice echoes such music to my ears as to pale all orchestrations
No instrument can speak of such great beauty
as your words which dance upon the winds of my heart
A waltz of resolution
The Dance of Souls

Time Goes Unseen

time goes unseen as it dances across the days
unheard it sings a happy song
unnoticed it soars above the sky
untouched it innocently smiles piroettes of joy

only when the music slows becomes aware
across the room a stained glass mosaic
then does a face surrender the hidden truth
we look down at our dancing shoes

stained and worn scuffed and scarred
souls revealing all the miles not noticed before
for why would secrets unvail amist young hearts
where years are but pictures minutes only words

faces once filled with dreams of light
stare through fog covered memories
with eyes of a child, astonished and bewildered
how quickly the dance becomes a walk

faultering upon the stones of the pathway
the song loudly whispers as the silence grows
the wind painting on a canvas of clouds
watches the dancers pass as before

time has hidden the steps again
a tender waltz to romance a past moment
around the floor abandoned only hope to hold on to
lost in the eyes of a ghostly partner one last dance

The Canvas

As God prepares a canvas to paint a brand new day
the angels gather round, anticipation on there face
One angel say's to God, " if I may be so bold? "
The Christmas season colors of green and red, silver and gold
God thinks for a moment and says " Those colors might be right,
but better yet I believe I will just leave this one white! "

Virgin of the Mountain Morning Symphony

The brisk morning air touched my skin
as if a million geese were sent scurrying to take flight
The wind from the mountain had a chill worthy of Eskimos and polar bears
I could see the ice on top as it shined like silver lining the slopes
creating a great toboggan pulled tightly down around it's head
The trees a chorus line dancing to the winds of winter
A great oak stood before the hills
a conductor of this orchestra moving back and forth
leading this amazing symphony of nature
The wondrous majesty spread across the stage intense with emotion
                                   whispering with silence
nurturing the souls of all who are blessed to behold this shivering scene of the morning
                                     It is truly beautiful
I hear music so enchanting and warm as to melt this paradise
A consummation of my virgin ears
Take me now for I shall be your audience and show you my gratitude

Embracing the Poetry of God

As dawn blesses the mountains
the voices of the morning sing praises to Gods poetry
The living word, the music of life
The great artist drags His bow a cross the canvas,
and words become music
Painted with grand majesty in the pigments of wonder
a masterpiece is once again nurtured
The dreams of yesterday, today, and tomorrow find faith
Hopes walks upon the clouds leaving footprints in the heavens
A testimony to time, a moment of nature
which forever holds tenderly in it's hands
Embracing the poetry, music, and vision of God

The First Sunrise

A blind man opens his eyes to see his first sunrise
From behind the hills a warm light gives birth to a thousand rainbows
With the new day comes a hope and anticipation
that all will be as beautiful as he had dreamed
He has felt the sun on his face, he has been touched by the wind
he has heard the voice of the morning
But now those things which have always been are new, somehow changed
For the light has brought new meaning to his world
He finds no disappointment
as the beauty in his mind is paled by the true beauty of the vision before him
It has gone beyond his dreams and taken his heart to a place beyond rainbows
above the stars
Now the wonder of the world is no longer a mystery and has become a truth
He has seen what was once a dream, he has touched his yearning
he has finally embraced the light which surrounds him
Not with his eyes
not with his hands
but with his heart
With his soul

Life Is

Life is ups and it's downs,
                it's shorts and it's longs
It's crooks and it's straights,
                it's rights and it's wrongs
It's emptys and it's fulls,
                it's hots and it's colds
It's nows and it's thens,
                it's youngs and it's olds
It's darks and it's brights,
                it's hards and it's softs
It's evers and it's nevers,
                it's onces and it's ofts
It's goods and it's bads,
                it's dirtys and it's cleans
It's happys and it's sads,
                it's nices and it's means
It's alls and it's nones,
                it's belows and it's aboves
It's hugs and it's kisses,
                it's hates and it's loves
It's beginnings and it's endings,
                it's slows and it's fasts
It's questions and it's answers,
                it's firsts and it's lasts
It's rounds and it's squares,
                it's befores and it's afters
It's ins and it's outs,
                it's tears and it's laughter
It's all of these things rolled up in a shell
So have yourself a good one, and I wish you well

The Kiss

The taste of your kiss lay upon my lips as a heavenly wine
Taking me higher, higher, till there was no earth, no stars
To where desires became the essence of the universe and
we were alone in existence
There was no sound, there was only the light of you dancing
upon my soul as a child with no worries no cares
For that moment, I touched you and you touched me
and nothing else mattered but The Kiss
