All We Know

All we do is run
Our days pass in a blur
Bruised and battered
Bodies grow and minds shrink
And hope is gone
The days pass in a blur
Whole pieces of ourselves are gone
Heart dies
Shrinks humanity

Last Thought

Lightning strikes down cold pale thighs
rivers flow from broken blue eyes
there is nothing to do
but turn orange to blue
all beautiful things must die

Rainy Afternoon

Come a gentle rain
pattering off worn sidewalks
An overcoming calm

Tsunami

I am aggressive
drowning problems under myself
I watch their sorrow grow in the wake of what I've done;
Buildings fallen
Dreams crushed
Blood shed,
their world shaken,
My rough foam bubbling as their toes intercept sand
they look to the horizon in hope of a new day,
a day where the feeling of me is one from their heart,
when the blowing wind doesn't suck the air from their bodies,
when they can once more see beauty in a storm
rather than the sunken faces of those whom they loved being taken away

Lovers Quarrel

Venom dripping from thoughtless words
all thoughts gone but "This is absurd"
watching dribbles of rain
slide down old window panes
with a turn, theres nothing to be heard

Perspective

Gradient into vast blue
Sorrowful and unexplored
Unsure if its even there
From ocean to ice crystals
Sky splashed with white lightning
it is so calm
but oh so alone

Charlotte, Why

The chill of October--
Hanging from her web outside my window.
She does not move,
Although the air thrusts into her like boxer fists.
She stands steady,
The gray overcast slowly changing into shades of pink,
How strong is a spider's silk?
Could it hold the weight of the world's problems,
or would it snap--
for it is only strong enough for her own.
Sky transitions to gloomy purple,
Clouds moving faster as the tempo of the wind increases
Bats fly past silhouette trees--
Still she stays.
Why does she stay?
Nimble legs twirl in place like flipped tricycle wheels.
Is she scared?
If asked would she confide in me?
Now the blue of dusk shows,
Rustles of leaves on distant trees only show black; needles on trees no longer visible
If she wanted to could she move?
Or is she stuck to exist and take what is given?
Reflected in my windows glass,
She's fading from view.
Charlotte, why?
For whom do you bare the cold,
the pain,
the sorrow--
Is it for you,
or just some pig

Origami

Lay out your struggles
Take what aves you and fold it in half
The corner, your anger, going from center out again
All you sadness and despair shown light with every shifting angle
Keep going-
Even if it tears,
Keep going
Then, with one swift movement
throw your troubles to the wind
Release your problems like paper cranes

Like Stars At Dawn

She thinks things she shouldn’t,
She does things she's not meant to.
Silently wondering what you’d do
If she was suddenly gone,
Poof!
Vanished--
Like the stars at dawn,
Would you notice?
Would you even care in the least?
She ponders the thought of ending it all,
She would never,
But the thought of how she could be there one minute and be gone the next,
Intrigued her maybe too much.
She wonders how you could be serious
Using metal to rust your body,
To tarnish your silver soul.
She tried once.
Placing the blade across skin like pure snow
The teeth tickling over covered veins, never digging into her garden of a body
The thought that you could do this and never second guess whether it should be done
Killed her.
How strong you must feel to be able to go all or nothing
Maybe the problem is you don’t feel at all?
Negative thoughts clogging up arteries.
With the only cure being to purge them from your body yourself,
Forcing them to be silent by your own hand.
She knows the effects of loss and how seeing and breathing become a chore
That lacking them causes tracks to skip in your mind made of vinyl
She wishes she understood further what went on in the depths of your mind
Fears of walking down the street or buying Skittles at the corner store
How simple things could make you want to claw at your throat til all the problems flow out.
But she can’t,
No matter how she tries she won't be able to,
For she is just one who thinks things she shouldn’t,
And does things she’s not meant to,
Just silently wondering if she suddenly left,
Like the stars at dawn,
If you’d notice and care in the least,
Like she would for you.

I Am

I am
the smile that melts from your lips when you see something you will you hadn't
the squeak and squeal of your shoes on tile flooring after it rains
the smell of toast burning in a cold kitchen that normally smells of citrus
the sparkle in a child's eye when a dog pounces and rolls all over them
the light of the moon on a dark dirt road guiding you home
I am gone
