My Play Date

Today I'm so excited, I just can't wait.
My best friend comes over for my play date.

The doorbell rings, she's here, she's here.
We run to my room, we shout & cheer.

We'll color; we'll paint & play with my toys.
We'll start a parade & make lots of noise.

I pretend I'm a ballerina & dance on my toes.
My friend is a walrus, there's a ball on her nose!

We play hide & seek, she counts up to ten.
I hide in my closet, oops she found me again.

Mom gives us a call; "Do you guys want a treat'?
We shout, "Yes we do" but you must make it sweet.

We run to the kitchen as fast as we can.
We get to the table to find bread & ham?

This isn't exactly what we had in mind.
Cookies & milk is what we'd hoped to find.

Mom laughed out loud, "Don't worry", she said.
It's cookies & milk, not ham & bread.

The girls giggled & smiled, they just couldn't wait.
To get together again for their next play date.

Creating Families

Where did I come from asked a girl named Lori? Come sit down, said mom & I'll
tell you a story. Once upon a time we dreamt of a day, that a precious little baby
would come our way.

We were so happy when our wish came true. We were blessed with a beautiful
baby & that baby was you. Did I grow in your belly like other kids do? No, said
mom, there was another plan for you.

God picked a special girl for you to grow inside. What do you mean, said Lori with
her eyes open wide? Mom snuggled closer to Lori & started to say, that families
are created in many different ways.

Our skin can look different & so can our hair but that doesn't matter, you just need
to care. Lori looked up at mom, "I like what you said". Can you tell me this story
every night at bed?

Of course, said mom staring at her eyes so blue. I'd love nothing more than to tell
it to you. So as you grow up remember this story, you are always our baby, our
beautiful Lori.

Pearl the Goldfish

There once was a goldfish named Pearl.
She was orange & white & yes, she's a girl.

She loves to dress in skirts & lace.
She also wears makeup on her face.

She has a little brother, his name is Fred.
He just loves to nibble on bread.

Fred follows Pearl wherever she goes.
He wiggles his fins & pretends they are toes!

Pearl & Fred play with their friends.
From morning time until the day ends.

Then mom & dad tuck them into their beds.
And say goodnight to Pearl & goodnight to Fred.

Snowflakes

Snowflakes fall from way up high.
I wonder why they fall from the sky?

I like to catch them on my tongue.
I twirl around & run, run, run!

They sparkle & glisten as they fall down.
The snow piles high without making a sound.

Each snowflake looks different, not one looks the same.
I would love to give each one a name.

They stick to my mittens, they are cold & wet.
I wonder just how many I can get.

Snowflakes fall from way up high.
I still wonder why they fall from the sky.
