Unraveling Self-Esteem

When you were born...
a gift you received.
Invisible knitting needles...
can you believe?

The yarn started out white,
then you added the the colors...
depending what happened
as you reacted to others.

You are the creator of your own scarfs design,
It's based on life's lessons...
let's keep that in mind.

The longer the scarf...
the warmer you feel,
as the cold winds of defeat...
are right on your heels.

The negative remarks that get you to question,
your value in life...
may I offer a suggestion?
Start knitting yourself in the opposite direction,
just ask God for help and his loving protection.

Good thoughts of self will make your scarf grow.
At the end of your life...
the results they will show.

With each negative belief...
your scarf will start to unravel.
One can not go back...
for there is no time travel.

You are the knitter...
so It's all up to you...
believe in yourself...
and to yourself always be true.

Ice Cream Store

As you open the door...
you are momentarily transported
back to an innocent child like state.
Your concentration wavers
as your senses react like a 4th of July
firework display.
Large, colorful posters cover the walls
surrounding you...
offering tasty descriptions of many of the items.
All the while the scents of chocolate, fruit,
along with a variable feast of
confectionery delights are taken in
with every breath.
You look around...it's almost your turn.
You must decide...but it can not be taken lightly,
or simply blurted out in a moment of desperation.
The moment has arrived as you step up to the counter.
As eye contact is made,
your mind gives second thoughts to your selection.
Taking a deep breath, you calm yourself...
you can do this you tell yourself,
as the words start to form.
" I'll have a scoop of chocolate chip mint...a scoop of fudge nut brownie,
and a scoop of strawberry cheesecake in a
chocolate waffle cone dish...topped with a modest swirl of whip cream
and hot caramel drizzle, crowned with one perfectly positioned cherry."
Your mouth waters as you take possession of your masterpiece.
As you turn, you look proudly at the others in line,
letting them see your perfectly proportioned glacial reward.
As you grab your spoon, you waste no time leaving,
changing back into an adult, climb back in your car
to feast privately...like a hungry mouse hiding...
eating the last piece of cheese.

Trying To Reach Perfection

You try...and try...then try some more,
trying to obtain that perfect score.

A perfect spouse...
     a perfect house...
why you even have the perfect mouse.

You try and wear the perfect clothes.
You even tried to buy a perfect hose.

The more you try and obtain perfection,
the more you go in the opposite direction.

To try and be perfect will drive you mad...
and when you fall short it will make you sad.

So do your best with what you've got...
and don't worry about being who your not.

Empty Room

Eyes gazing, questions raising...where is the one

who rested here? Where is the one who took refuge here?

They are gone...yet their things remain.

How odd...they did not stop to pack.

Bed fresh...room clean...as if some magazine.

Breeze blowing...sunshine glowing...

yet emptiness is felt...how strange.

I peer in further...where did they go?

Will they return...I'd like to know.

I hear the clock ticking on the wall,

like some sort of eary wake up call.

They shall not return...their time is done...

there is no need to turn and run.

Your Everywhere

I thought of you just today,
when a song you loved came on to play.
I pictured you so young and strong,
you loved to laugh and sing along.
I saw you in the things I smelled,
this child of mine that I once held.
I saw you in last winters snow,
and in a campfires tender glow.
I saw you in the dunes of sand,
where you would always lend a hand.
You gave me courage to strive for more,
but for yourself...you closed the door.
I'll not forget you...this is clear,
cause you are with me there and here.

When You Left

When you left you took my heart,
and life as I knew it just fell apart.
The days they come and go so fast,
they march right on...how will I last?
Take each day...first one...then two,
this is what I was told to do.
It will get better my friends they say,
I wonder when...it's not today.
For when you left...I gave up hope.
For others sake...I try and cope.
They didn't know you this I feel,
I hardly believe that this is real.
Wake me up for surly I'm dreaming,
those nights alone I wake up screaming.
Too much to bare...too much I say,
since the day you went away.
If you are truly up above,
I send you dear...my deepest love.

Let It Go

If you think you should have never been born...
think again. For God makes no mistakes...
you are truly a miracle...so learn to let go of that thinking.

If you think your life would have turned out better...
     if you'd had different parents...
then again they could have been worse.
You are where you need to be to learn
the life events you were ment to learn...
so again I ask...try to learn to let go.

If you are living with some sort of disability...just remember...
we all are faced with some sort of disability.
A person may be living with the inability to love.
What a Hell that would be.

You never know the secret life another may be living...
no matter how they appear on the outside.

If someone has wronged you in your life...
know that you are not alone.
Try to learn to let go...otherwise it will become like a cancer...
sucking the life right out of you.

Let it go...it's not worth your life.

Let it go...there is someone who truly loves you...God.

Let it go and discover the wonderfully...talented
     person you are.

Let it go...and live.

I Love You More Than Chocolate

Driving down the road going mile after mile
I couldn't help but remember your beautiful smile.
My job keeps me gone most of the time
so you got a job at the local five-n-dime.
I tell her...
I love you more than chocolate...
your kisses taste so sweet.
I can hardly wait to get back home,
you make my life complete.
My trucker friends all laugh at me.
They think I've lost my mind
cause I use to see a lot of gals, but left that all behind.
One look from her was all it took, to set my heart ablaze.
Now I'm no longer searching or walking in a daze...cause
I love her more than chocolate...
her kisses taste so sweet.
I can hardly wait to get back home,
she makes my life complete.
When time goes by and we grow old,
on the porch we'll sit...
I'll take your hand...hold it close...then kiss you on the lips.
Tell you how much I cherish you...
this life I wouldn't miss...cause
I love you more than chocolate...
your kisses taste so sweet.
I can hardly wait to start each day.
You've made my life complete.

Mother In Law

She never understood...
the pain her words inflicted.
Year after year the comments came....
like salt poured in an open wound.
She never understood before...
the damage it has done...
I hope some day she will...cause this isn't any fun.
To all her friends and kin...
about her son...there was no end of praises...
it seemed he could do no wrong...
why he must be ole Abe Lincoln.
He has grown to be so strong...
and where there once was rage...
he's mellowed out...there is no doubt.
There has been a lot of changes...
I wonder what his secret was?
Could it be...why surely not...
there must be some mistake...
to the message that you got.
Why it's the one who stands beside him
who filled his heart with love.
It was then they both realized...
they fit together like a hand and glove.
The Lord said how you judge others...
will return in spades to you...
when you least expect it...so be careful what you do.
You will look into the mirror...
what you've accused others of...
your own needs now far passed.
There's nothing wrong with giving praise...
it really can be quite healing...
just remember when you leave one person out...
then self worth you could be stealing.
When friends your introducing go on and on about all the great
things you say your sons done...
his mate...she waits to hear...with some small hope...
even a crumb of some excitement that their worth anything at all.
It takes courage to keep on trying to care...
and love yourself and others...while the walls around you...
seem to fall like rolling thunder.
So before you get to be that person's private judge and jury...
take a moment to self reflect...
go on...your in no hurry.

My Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is a new twist...
created by me...
of an old favorite recipe...
that you will soon see.
It starts out the same...
as the package will show...
then comes the new stuff...
which I'll let you know.
First change to occur...
has to do with the butter...
you use to need two cubes...
now use only one.
Then add an equal amount of coconut oil...
Isn't this fun!
The next change to occur...
has to do with the flour...
use Rice flour instead...
It will give you new found power.
Power to create with no end in sight...
it may not turn out...
but then again it might.
Let your imagination run wild...
as if you're a child.
Try adding marshmallows or trail mix...
perhaps M-N-M's...
you won't run out of ideas...
cause the list never ends.
