Schizophrenia

"Doctor!
Doctor!
How is he?"

"Quite terrible, Miss.
He will not survive the night,
Probably not even the hour."

"What does he have?
Terminal cancer?
Pneumonia?
Cardiac Arrest?"

"No.
It is worse then all of those.
Even combined."

"Oh no!
Can I see him?

"I imagine you can, Miss.
But that's the problem.
I'm afraid I can't treat him
Since I can't--"

"Doctor! Please tell me.
I love him.
He's my boyfriend.
We have no secrets."

"Then you may wanna sit down.
Miss, I am sorry to inform you,
Your boyfriend is ailed with
A severe case of nonexistence."

Your Smile

I see you walking down the hall.
Your gorgeous blonde hair,
Thoughtful blue eyes, and
Perfect smile make me flustered.

I try to disappear into myself
When I will pass you.
A God like you doesn't notice
People who are like me.

Somehow, you catch my eye
And you wink at me as we pass.
When you can't see me anymore,
A smile lights up my face.

The impossible actually happened!
I am left grinning like a giggly idiot,
Getting concerned glances by others.
Yet, I don't care because you smiled at me:

You with your sunshine hair,
Deep, blue ocean eyes, and
your contagious smile.
My smile glows because of your smile.

Everyone Changes: Part Two

Kang, an asian boy who has lunch by me, has the funniest laugh I know.
I BET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... he will become a professional comedian.
YET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... he will be put in jail for murdering his girlfriend.
He will be sentenced to thirty years in prison with no parol.
Feeling hopeless, he will attempt to hang himself in his cell.
He is found getting ready to hang himself and is put on constant watch.
As time goes by, he accepts his fate.
While he is talking with one of the other guys there, they come up with a plan.
Together, they will work on creating a service project for children in Africa.
Who would have guessed?

Vicki, the girl who sits next to me in English, loves to write and laugh.
I BET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... she will graduate with a Masters in English,
Become a famous writer, marry a wealthy man, and have beautiful babies.
YET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... she will be raped during her first year of college.
In her mind, she will be untrusting and diagnosed with PTSD.
When it gets bad enough, she will be forced to quit college and get help.
Everyone will think that the treatment helped her,
But she will turn to heroin to attempt to help her nerves settle.
Then she will get into such a dark place that she will end up taking her life.
Who would have guessed?

Dylan, the airhead, jock who sits next to me in Math, won't do his homework.
I BET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... he will be flipping burgers at McDonalds.
YET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... he will pull himself together and actually begin
Caring about school when he gets a baseball scholarship.
He will end up graduating in Medical Research and work on many cures.
The one he will become most famous for, is his cure for cancer.
Not to long after, he will be awarded a Noble Prize for his cure.
He will get married to a simple, country girl and start a family with two kids.
Who would have guessed?

Nicole, who silently sits in the corner of my chemistry class, is a kind.
I BET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... she will become a world wide humanitarian.
YET IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS... she will go to law school and
Become an attorney for abused children. She will be a hero for many.
She will not be married by then but she will foster children in her home.
In the city she will live in, she will be awarded the Active Citizen award
For caring for the children of the city in such a loving way.
Who would have guessed?

Because of a drunk driver and die underneath his hardworking hands.
On the evening after her funeral, he and his two daughters are approached
By bright-eyed Mormon Missionaries telling him about eternal families
Even after death. After three more weeks of meeting with these missionaries,
He and his two daughters are baptized. He is called to work in the
Nursery with the eighteen months to two year old kids while during classes.

The Video Game Affair

Across the pixelated clouds, jumps a little man in red and blue.
He jumps hard and fast through the massive flood of mismatched minions.
The only thing on his tiny mind is get the girl.
Course this is not the first time he has to go rescue her.

The hot-headed idiot who kidnaps her just doesn't give up
And he just doesn't die, no matter how many times he is killed.
Course in this world, everyone can be revived by colorful mushrooms of extra life.
The cruelty of the never ending reality for the little man in red and blue
Has gotten close to driving him insane.

Yet, he can depend on his brother and trusty pet to help sometimes.
Thus, they keep his impending insanity at bay.
Thankfully, this rescue mission his brother in green and blue
Meets up with him so that they can fight the minion of the hot-headed idiot.

Together, they fight through them till they make it to the castle.
Lava steams all around them as they sneak in.
Together the little man in red and blue and his brother in green and blue,
Work to defeat all the opposition that they come upon.
To avoid letting the hot-headed idiot know they had arrived,

They scurried into the vents, using their small size to their advantage.
Shortly thereafter, the plopped outside of the hot-headed idiot's throne room.
Quickly, they threw the throne room door open,
Expecting to see the girl all locked up and guarded by his magicians.

To their gut-stabbing surprise, the saw the girl in a tender embrace and
Locking lips with the hot-headed idiot on his throne.
The hot-headed idiot and the girl quickly let go of one another.

The girl tried to fix her crown and smooth her ruffled dress.
The hot-headed idiot quickly smoothed out his scales.
The little man in red and blue simply stood aghast by the sight.
The brother in green and blue copied what his brother did.

The hot-headed idiot spit out flames at the brothers.
The heroes jumped out of the way and snapped into action.
Having had much practice at fighting him,
They managed to pin the hot-headed idiot down rapidly.

The girl ran towards them and threw herself on the idiot.
The heroes backed up frustrated that they hadn't seen this coming.

A speech bubble popped up over the girl,
"Just go!" Read the large, black words.

The little man in red and blue and his brother walked out of the room,
Then out of the castle completely unopposed by minions.
And together they hopped on the pixelated clouds
Until they arrived at their humble home.

Misunderstandings

She was a sophomore who wanted to be liked by everyone.
Yet, she was good at putting a facade of a confident person.
She cared and loved those around her who hurt.
Inside though, she was in so much pain from depression.

He was a senior who couldn't care less about his reputation.
Many things had happened that put him at this stage of life.
Everyone thought that he was just a class clown.
Inside though, he was struggling with a dark past.

Both of them were aspiring writers.
She wrote because it was a way to let her emotions flow.
He wrote because he desired perfection with it.
They met in a writing class and became friends. Great friends.

The first time they worked on something together was in this class.
The teacher assigned the pair the prologue of the class novel.
Together, they bounced ideas off of each other.
More importantly, this began the process of them trusting each other.

He began to see a girl, who struggled and was all alone.
A girl who needed an elder brother's guiding hand in her life.
He saw her as someone who he could trust.
So, he offered her his listening ear.

She began to see him as a guy who cared about her.
A boy who needed someone to care about him in his life.
She saw him as someone who she could trust.
So, she offered him her caring heart.

He didn't realize what was going to happen.
She didn't realize what was going to happen.
Neither understood the other's true intentions.
That is, until it was to late.

A fragile heart was broke.
A blossoming friendship shattered.
The boy became distant to protect himself.
And the girl went into herself to stay safe.

But as time went on for the two of them,
They learned how to recover and move on with their life.
Though the memory is still with them,
They have tucked the misunderstanding away in their heart.

Waiting For Your Hero

The house is burning
With violent noise
And red all-over.

I sit in the heat
With a prayerful heart,
That he would arrive.

Superman in his
Spandex suit of hope
And cape of justice.

I burrow inside
My mind to begin
A long wait with hope.

Many minutes then
Days soon followed by
Years of desperate hope.

Just like spring flowers,
My hope, soul, and mind
Wilt to my life's heat.

He is still late; yet,
I always believed
In my Superman.

My superman who'd
Fly with hell's fury
To save the weak ones.

But life's fake heroes,
Try with all their might
To make a belief.

A belief with hope
Of water so pure
It'd wash away grief.

For years I thought
That this hope was a
Power of supers.

I stumble onto
The truth, creating
In me a fire.

I dig deeper in
My mind to be far
From disappointments.

A trumpet sounds
Drawing me from my
Burrow to listen.

The man speaks of
A real thing that has
Powers to help heal.

Yet, as dormant as
It is, the man said,
It must be found.

So, I join this search
For my broken heart
To find the true balm.

 A balm that is new
And unique with its
Unknown soothing.

A soothing that feels
Like freedom to fly
And solves all your pains.

The search ends with a
Nugget of precious
Gold from wise humans.

Life is not about
Waiting for your hero
To save you from pain.

Life is all about
Unlocking your heart
And saving yourself.

Using that key of
Wisdom, I unlock
A special, new hero.

This hero steps forth
And shines a light
On the burned rubble.

And with a swish of
Her almighty cape,
She soars upwards.

Floating in the sky,
She calls a massive
Group to come to her.

And because of her
Super strength, the burnt
Rubble was swept away.

I am surprised
When she flies down to
stand in front of me.

I study the shape of
Her face, color of her
Eyes, and her lip's shape.

I smile to her
And then walk away
From my reflection.

She follows in my
Shadow, always there,
Guarding me from harm.

All she will ever
Be is me and all
I will be is she.

My Superhero,
In her sweatpants of
Hope and of Justice.

Flying off into
The sunset till she
Saves the day, again.

Love Or Chocolate

Why would I want to be in love?
It makes you sweat, overheat,
And hyperventilate.
It creates major heart issues
That stay with you for years.
It costs too much money
When you try to keep it with you.

But why would I want to be in love
When I could have chocolate?

Why would I want chocolate?
It makes you feel wonderful
And stimulates happiness.
It creates an environment of relaxation
That will get you through the day.
It costs only one dollar and
Stays with you for as long as you want.

So, why would I want to be in love,
When I could have chocolate?

The Moon Princess: Part One

When the magnificent moon rose to the night sky,
My heart began to pump harder and faster.
The energy of its rays coursed through my veins,
Forcing all of my senses to become sharper.
I could hear the howling of wolves far away, and my
Hand began to twitch for my bow and arrow.
Still, I walked into the bitter, dark night,
Stretching out my hand as if
To hold the delicate tendrils of the light.
Slowly, my body began to remake itself.
My body began to become stronger, more beautiful,
And younger. I fed off of the light,
Absorbing as much as I could
Before Day would come and steal its glory.
I heard light footsteps behind me
Causing me to whirl around and startle the approacher.
"O mighty Artemis," the young child began.
She quickly dropped down on her knees.
My smile beamed like the moon
As I beckoned her to stand up.
She stood and continued speaking:
"A man has been found spying upon us.
As much as you are truthful and honest, his tongue drips
With words covered in honey though the words are full of
His cunningness and poison. What would you bid us
To do with this man?" She said but spitting out the
Word man. She was one of my prized huntresses
And learned only from the best about life's philosophies.
"Bring him to me," I said. There was only one punishment
Fit for this kind of disgusting, manly characteristic.
All of my darling Huntresses paraded out of the vegetation,
Into my open field lit only by the royal light of the moon.
One of the girls brought the cunning man forth,
Slung over her shoulder like a useless sack.
She dropped him on the ground before me,
My eyes bore daggers into this pathetic thing bowing to me.
The male sex disgusted me.
They believed in themselves too much.
They were rough with those around them, grace-less
To those who associated with them,
And always in a state of dirt and grime.
