A Weed In a Meadow of Flowers

Some days 
I stand alone
Like a weed
In a meadow of flowers
Under a tree 
And the sun shines bright
But I can not feel its warmth
For the tree was blocking me from its light

Other Days
I am a bird
Soaring above all else
Soaking in all of the sun’s rays
Nothing can bring me down,
Or have enough impact
To cause me to land

Invisible

people scurry around me
its like I am invisible
I am looked over
often forgotten
the one whose name goes unknown
never remembered
not matched to a face
or a personality
even though
I am a person.
I exist.
I matter.
I have significance in this world.
