Hug Me Far

HUG ME FAR
YOU OPENED UP WITHOUT A RING
SCRATCHED MY BACK AND SAID I DID MY THING
YOUR KEYS HIT MY HAND BEFORE I LOVE YOU HIT MY LIPS
MY FINGERS CARESSED YOUR BODY AND LIPS
HUG ME FAR
YOU PAINTED THE FUTURE WITH YOUR BRUSH
WHEN THINGS WEREN’T GOING IT WAS A RUSH
BRAKE PEDALS WERE APPLIED
FINAL LINE, YOU LIED
HUG ME FAR

Beautiful Man

The sun shines on water so gracefully
Reflecting it's beautiful face so tastefully
Hands so soft like fresh ripe peaches
The sun sets endlessly on these beaches
Beautiful man
Holding my heart I know this life is sure
Eye to eye we stare feeling secure
I beg your lips to touch mine
I invite more than your incline
Beautiful man
A step forward from the past
The foot print embedded in sand that will last
All I can promise is all of me
In my life I beg of you to be
Beautiful man

Just One Kiss

Just one kiss I beg of thee
Apart of my life will you be
Your hand and mine joined as one
Will that invite much more to come?
I smell you’re scent from across the room
I do, shall we jump the broom
Lets share sand between our feet
I feel your pulse with each heartbeat
Your eyes speak louder than your words express
Is that a signal for me to undress?
One touch from your lips I want to feel
You comfort me like a Midol pill
Your arms make me feel secure
Can love start with a thought this pure
Your smile leaves me on cloud nine
You finger print you’ve embedded into mine
Will that circle put us together?
Can you love me as soft as a feather?
Weather goes through a lot of changes
Will our love with stand those ranges
All our lives we wait for that day
On our knees we would pray
Just one kiss

Underneath Your Wings

When I was born you protected me with your kiss
You looked into my eyes and made promises with a wish
You raised me with your heart, tears and sweat
Embracing motherhood you took a bet
You placed one foot in front of the other with no regret
Against all odds you held your head up high and proud
You taught me to be strong and to speak out loud
You showed me how to face the sun, where the light shines on my face
You pointed my hands toward the stars and said I can reach that place
You always covered me with warmth no sun could make
Your strength and courage no one can take
You are a mother, a woman, a daughter and a kin…
You are somebody special, my best friend.

Could It Be

Could It Be

Could it be time to retire that card held so high
Could it be the reason tears hit the floor when its time to say goodbye
Could it be that warmth, that joy I wake up to everyday
Could it be the name I recite when I pray
Could it be
Could it be that hand I long to hold every night
Could it be that man worth the fight
Could it be the main ingredient to my life
Could it be the man I see calling me his wife
Could it be
Could it be real
Could it be a man made from steal
Could it be a beginning made from three days long
Could it be the making of something strong
Could it be

Once In a Lifetime

Once In a Lifetime

Once in a life time your heartbeat will change
Once in a lifetime your stomach will feel strange
Once in a lifetime you will wear her shirt
Once in a lifetime your hands will be clean from dirt
Once in a lifetime
Once in a lifetime she will return “I love you”
Once in a lifetime she will make you feel new
Once in a lifetime tears will escape your eyes when she leaves
Once in a lifetime she will wipe away your tears with her sleeves
Once in a lifetime
Once in a lifetime you will share a connection you feel is pure
Once in a lifetime you need to take a chance even when you’re insecure
Once in a lifetime one can become two
Once in a lifetime that one has stood in front of you
Once in a lifetime no one else can make your decision
Once in a lifetime you have to close your eyes and follow that vision
Once in a lifetime love escapes from you
Once in a lifetime

Darkness and Light

I couldn’t recognize the reflection in the mirror
The shadow that outlined me I couldn’t see clearer
I couldn’t see where the path before me leads
I heard a gun shot, I covered my wound as it bleeds
I felt a light gently turn me around
I felt my body no longer on the ground
When I returned to the path, I saw where it could lead
I touched my wound and no longer did it bleed
The dirt on my face and clothes was cleansed
From just one wipe of his garment he erased my sins
He removed the blindness from my eyes
Tears fell without surprise
I took a step forward and my foot made a print
I stood up straight and my backbone no longer bent
I took pride in my stand
I felt destiny within my hand
He put purpose in my heart
That’s the difference between light and dark

Is This He

Is This He

Is this he that I dream of all day
Is this he that I think of when I lay
Is this he that represents a teacher of man
Is this he I want to take my hand
Is this he
Is this he a portrait of an ebony King
Is this he a song I hum of when I sing
Is this he the main structure upholding the roof
Is this he, a man existing with proof
Is this he
Is this he that lights the hope in every mans eye
Is this he that stands by his word not a lie
Is this he that has captured my soul
Is this he the circle with a goal
Is this he

Let Me Be

Let me be that sun that gets to touch your face
Let me be that hug that you embrace
Let me be that smile that gets a return
Let me be the love that you get to learn
Let me be
Let me be that song that you hum all day
Let me be that feeling that never goes away
Let me be that wrinkle on your cheek
Let me be that woman that you seek
Let me be
Let me be that thing that encourages your best
Let me be that warmness in your chest
Let me be that name that stays on your lips
Let me be that body at the end of your fingertips
Let me be
Let me be that finger that receives a ring
Let me be that memory worth a lifetime of things
Let me that woman you grow old with
Let me that ending that’s not a myth
Let me be

Goodbye

Goodbye
As the wave draws back to the sea
Like the sun bowing to the night
A kiss on your hand after a date
The last taste of food from your fork
Goodbye
As the curtain is drawn after a show
Like the exhale of completion
A tear dropping silently
The release to depart
Goodbye
