Underneath Your Wings

When I was born you protected me with your kiss You looked into my eyes and made promises with a wish You raised me with your heart, tears and sweat Embracing motherhood you took a bet You placed one foot in front of the other with no regret Against all odds you held your head up high and proud You taught me to be strong and to speak out loud You showed me how to face the sun, where the light shines on my face You pointed my hands toward the stars and said I can reach that place You always covered me with warmth no sun could make Your strength and courage no one can take You are a mother, a woman, a daughter and a kin… You are somebody special, my best friend.
