A New Rug

Went out to the carpet store
to buy a brand new rug
When the sales guy on the floor
came up and gave a hug

He thaid how can I help you
I said I needed sisal
he thaid no Thir, thath incorrect
I think that you mean thithal

I was a little red cheeked
some things come out I guess
Don't know what made me say it
but I answered yeth !!

So he showed me all his thithal
thix rugth to be ethact
We found the one we wanted
off to the car we packed

Stopped by to get some dinner
a cafe near the lake
The waitress said "and you sir?"
I thaid the t-bone thtake

Medium, rare or well done?
whilst writing on her pad
I thaid it did not matter
ath long ath ith not bad !!

Memories

Memories

Memories are funny things
these remnants of our past

They never really leave our minds
they last and last and last

Some are good, some are bad
and some just break our hearts

Yet nonetheless we keep them all
for they are all the parts

The parts and pieces of our lives
stored in within our being

Some are vivid some are vague
and some are not worth seeing

But take our memories away
these footprints of our lives

Erase them from our minds and souls
just cut them out with knives

I think you'd find that what you took
was personality

And now an empty shell is left
I don't remember me

I don't remember how I loved
I don't remember who

I don't remember how to sing
the songs have all gone too

I don't remember how to cry
I don't remember tears

I don't remember anything
that happened all those years

Please let me keep my memories
put them back where they should be

They make the person who I am
and I really kinda' like me

Just the Way I Taught You

I want to go play baseball
I want to ride my scooter
I want to play some marbles
for I am quite the shooter

But Dad says Son not yet
you've got a lawn to mow
do it just the way I taught you
not too high nor low

And after it's all mowed
you must trim the edges fine
do it just the way I taught you
I want a perfect line

Then I want my car washed
better than last time
do it just the way I taught you
I don't want tar and grime

When finished take the trash out
this time get it right
do it just the way I taught you
make sure the lid's on tight

OK Dad, it's all done
can I now go out and play?
I'll do it just the way Mom taught me
before she passed away
