Tessa Milne Poem
As his body slowly dwindles
His mind sharpens even more
But memories, they cloud his thoughts
Bringing back his time of war.
The doctors describe the causes
Brain traumas and distress
They say that it’ll get better
His life won’t always be such a mess.
But what they don’t know how to fix
What he can’t explain
Is that the battle in Iraq
was only the beginning of his pain.

Tessa Milne Poem
Lightning fast he moves
like water over glass.
His long legs gracefully
eat the floor.
No one has ever danced
like him before.
His strong arms wrap
around her hips.
While uncaringly she flips,
Soaring through the silent air.
The people can’t help
but stop and stare.

Tessa Milne Poem
Hungrily his arms engulf
her giggling young body
she laughs and cries
and shouts hurray!
While silently he prays
He prays that she may
grow up strong.
and hopefully forget
the years that they spent
torn apart
the years he now regrets
He prays that she’ll be happy
that she’ll never have to hear
mom and daddy fighting
or be surrounded with unknown fear
but for now he ends his prayer
And pulls her closer to his heart
where she constantly resides
Then thanks the lord, just one last time
for being by her side.
