Palm Tree Princess

Not fitting in her own clothes,
She was considered small.
Old as she was,
Her voice was loud and strong.

Big eyes and curly hair,
She disliked or maybe,
Never cared.

She hid behind lies,
Afraid to be found out,
That her life,
She began to doubt.

Small house,
A torn father,
A quiet mother,
And a sister,
Who had different ways.

No one to love,
Just herself,
With her sadness,
She pays.

First Step Forward

Unprepared as ever,

I was scared.

My past proved I was no good.

But I wanted to believe the truth.

I shut my eyes and took a deep breath,

Watching the smoke disappear from my view.

This too had to stop.

I couldn’t break another promise.

So many unwanted thoughts clouded my head.

The song began to change,

And I still paid no heed to it.

I didn’t know what to feel yet.

Excitement bubbled here and there.

Happiness was just beyond the horizon.

Sadness rippled over the surface.

Above all I was afraid.

And unsure.

Twisting a strand of hair around my finger I thought to myself,

Seconds later a smile sprang to my lips.

This time was different.

Cause this time I wanted it.

A Tiny Heartbeat

Looking into the glass,

Her head lopsided,

Her mind lost in thought.

Gripping the fabric that hugged her,

She sighed.

Staring into darkened eyes,

Deep in thought.

Fingers twisting around a strand of hair absent mindedly,

She reached out and touched the glass.

The figure in front copied her movement,

With a crease between it's eyes.

Those eyes showed weariness and caution.

She looked away as a lump caught in her throat.

Making it hard to breathe.

She glanced back at the sad creature in the glass,

Just as it looked back at her.

Tears welled up in the creatures eyes and slid down it's cheek,

Getting caught in it's hair.

She reached down and placed her palm on her belly,

Fear, worry and pain clouding her mind.

Still staring into those tear filled eyes of the creature,

She tried to wipe away the wetness from her face.

Past the tears and the glassy stare of the figure,

All she could see was anguish and a burning desire to run.

Loss tore at her heart,

As her fingers tightened around herself.

A timid knock forced her to look away from those eyes that were far from alive.

Clutching herself even tighter,

She walked away,

Feeling commited to a crime that was not her's to commit.

It has no chance to live nor breathe.

She had lost before she had even began.

Dreams

A little girl,
Who tried to stand tall.
She was confused,
So she wanted it all.

Deep inside,
Something had broken.
Causing her to shatter,
Causing her to weaken.

The smile that shone,
Was her way of lying.
It made people happy,
But inside she was dying.

This realm,
Was not hers to love.
She wished to be elsewhere,
Somewhere up above.

She cried good bye,
Her eyes,
Reflecting sunbeams.
She was being called,
Called to the land of dreams.

Last Breath

When the wind takes me away,

I'll leave my breath hanging in the air.

As I go for a spin,

Floating like a cloud,

Forbidden like a sin.

Twisting and leaping,

Flowing and dancing.

All my cares,

Leave me and fly,

Without me even saying goodbye.

It's what they say,

A far green country.

Where rainbows never fade,

And the air is never sultry.

Where the sun,

turns all to gold.

And the wind,

holds a secret.

Where all the colors,

Run true and bold.

And the rain,

Is never cold.

It a land that's never lost,

A land that can't be found.

Only those who don't search,

Shall see these shores,

And then shall be forever bound.

Lost, Not Found

How do you know if you'll love someone forever?

I don't.

Not yet.

To find someone,

Who could make your heart skip a beat.

Who was so beautiful,

It hurt.

Who's smile,

Could leave you breathless.

Someone you could never let go,

No matter how far the fall was.

The excitement and thrill of a secret,

Only you should know.

The need to breathe,

Just so you could see them once more.

To walk,

And walk,

And keep walking.

Just so you could be one inch closer.

Even words don't have to be whispered to know how much you cared.

To end up in an unknown place,

One that leave you in fear.

But not caring,

When your holding their hand.

Nothing could hurt more than the cry of their pain,

It could rip at your heart,

And tear at your soul.

The thought of goodbye,

Was the kind of pain,

That could leave you numb and torn.

In lies and half truths,

Nothing leaves without a mark.

It forces you apart,

But only in distance.

The endless thoughts and battles,

Leave you thirsty.

The very sight of them,

Leave you burning,

Burning for their touch.

But not one word goes unheard,

Not one touch goes unnoticed.

Not for one second,

Could you turn and leave.

But in time,

You find yourself being held.

Held again by them.

Kissed by them.

But what changes?

Nothing but the need.

Need that seems to have sunk.

Sunk down to where you can't reach.

Gone without warning was the need,

Need to love.

How do you know if you'll love someone forever?

I don't.

Not yet.

Shades of Black and Grey

Nights tend to stretch out,

The cold begins to slowly creep.

No ways to scream or shout,

As the darkness begins to seep.

Here at the very edge,

Darkness prevails.

A silent game,

As a cry of hope fails.

To ignore the cry for help,

Nothing could ever be felt.

No aid would ever come,

As all was said and done.

Promises would be broken,

As the sky turns grey.

All would be taken,

As there was nothing left to say.

To be strong and might,

Nothing could be more wrong,

As nothing would ever be right.

As all disappears,

Even light.

Chips and Strips

Blushing deeply, I lean in for the hug.

Aware of that familiar warmth.

Your confident smile brushed with

a bit of mischief leaves me spluttering.

Room filled with weary eyes.

But that often glance from your direction,

kept breaking my string of thought.

Leaving me with ones,

that could never be bought.

'Where are we going?'

The constant question that hung in the air.

'The next lane'

The answer that made no sense.

One of the many familiar streets greeted our tasteless humor.

The questioning glances left us jumping back into our awaiting chariot.

Sprawled on the side of the road,

Sitting like anybody but a lady.

The passers-by gave us more then just a second look.

Without even a glance back,

You gave me your hand.

You led the way as you always do.

Making me feel twice as secure.

'We'll buy one and split it'

Your usual words.

Squeezing into the booth,

You don't let any bit of distance come between us.

Trusting my instinct,

You let me pick our prey again.

'Don't finish the honey mustard'

Just as you clean of the last bit of it.

Ring Ring!

Suddenly back to reality.

Have to get back to my tower before I turn myself into a pumpkin.

Helping me into my chariot.

You disappear from my view,

Taking my fantasy along with you.

Reflection

When the mirror looks back at me,

I find the urge to hide.

To seal my self away,

And not go for a ride.

But like a fool,

I peak.

And then there,

It stares back at me.

Disappointment in it's eyes,

Ashamed of me.

I reach out to apologize,

No point,

It was meant to be.

You could see hate,

For what I've become.

But it was silent,

For no words could ever come.

It was torture,

To stand and watch.

To touch it's fingers,

As the sadness lingers.

I turned away,

No more could I take.

It was all a reflection,

So I could burn and ache.

Beneathe the Floor Boards

It's the silence,

That's exciting.

The secret,

That keeps it alive.

It's the risk,

That I live for.

The rejection,

That keeps me fighting.

Our secret,

That keeps my thirsty.

Never ending thrill,

That's got me going.

Sneaking around,

Is what should be done.

Keeping our voices down,

The only way to get around.

What's left hidden,

Is what I crave to find.

What pushes me further,

Is what I intend to pull closer.

Impossible reach,

Has got me climbing.

Our secret,

Has got me burning.

The lies,

The half truths.

Secrets hidden away,

To be quiet.

Beneath the surface,

Is where we lie.

Our own world,

For now,

Till goodbye.
