Remembering When

I remember when...
We'd run around the yard.
And play 'til the sun set.
We had so much fun.
Never had any regret.

I remember when...
We had all those fights.
With every word that was said.
I wish I could take it all away.
No longer feel this dread.

I remember when...
We use to be so close.
When we had it all.
Let's forget the past.
Our love was never small.

The Perfect Day

It was New Years' Day and the rain was pouring. The plans I made for were ruined by the rain. He must have noticed I was cold because I felt his silky leather jacket being draped across my bare shoulders. I looked over and saw him smiling at me. I caught myself blushing then looked away. Shyly I broke the silence. "I'm really sorry. I had this big day planned for us but," I paused, "I forgot to check the weather." Before I could continue blaming myself his finger tips led my face perfect plush lips. When we kissed, it was like Heaven on Earth. He told me something I'll never forget. Kneeling down on one knee, he looked up and grabbed my hand. The words still play like a song in my head. "Will you marry me?" Tears poured down my face. I was so excited the words got stuck in my throat. So I nodded instead. He picked me up, spun me around, then we kissed. There was so much passion we felt the sparks between our closed lips. This was truly the perfect day.

Silence

Sew my lips shut,
Never to speak again.
Every word I've ever said
Always comes out wrong.
I hear the screaming in my head.
All becoming too much.
Please will you all be quiet.
Just for a little while.
Walk away from the world.
Leave it all behind.
Don't look back,
Never turn around.
Forget the past,
And the future
Die in the present
Never to be remembered

It Was Me

You were taken to soon.
Ripped away from us.
You knew it was our final goodbye.
But the truth was hidden.
With a tear in your eye,
There was one last goodnight hug.
I wiped away the tear,
Then smiled and walked away.
By the time of the morning light
It was already too late.
You were gone and to a better place.
Never knew of your acknowledged your pain.
Of your suffering
Sometimes I wonder,
"If I only cared more
Would you still be here?
If I only hurt less,
Would you still be here?"
I'd deny it if I could.
But inside we both know,
I am the reason
You went away.

Why

Getting sick of bullshit
Sick of it all.
I wanna throw in the towel
And not think of it anymore.
"Everything that happens,
Happens for a reason"
Is what you tell me
But I ain't believing.
Is this really my life?
Or a bad dream that
I can't wait up from.
When will someone
Come wake me up.
Tell me it wasn't real
And that my life is perfect.
But perfection you see
Is only in fairy tales.
Sadly it's not for me.
This is reality,
And I'm sick of it all.

The Past Can Change You

I use to call that house my home.
Now it makes me feel so alone
That is just another memory.
Another entry in my diary.
With every second that passes by.
I'm always looking back questioning "Why?"
And every minute that travels past me.
I finally start to really see.
All of that has happened.
All of that has been changed.
Was to make me smarter?
To make me wiser?
As I look back, now I truly see.
That everything that happened, happened to me.
I know I can't change the past.
It can't even be a task.
But, the future is where I'm headin'.
And you can put your bet in.
Where I'm goin' I can be free.
That where I'm goin' I can be me.

Me and You

From the moment I was born,
You never let me go.
As I grew older,
You always held my hand.
The moments flow by us.
Like fish in a river.
Every second that passes by.
We grow closer.
I know there were times of giving up,
That you almost had.
But you kept trudging through.
Through the sun and the rain,
The snow and the sleet.
My hand was always held.
You never let me go.
