Gold Sand

Gold sand
Milk waves washes
Foot prints of yesterday
Restore with clear smooth surface for
New feet

My Heart Yearns

Back of my heart I yearn
Even for a glimpse of your shadow returns
It is being long past years since we met last
I am on one side and you’re on the other the world vast.

I was sixteen and you were eighteen I think
Every morning you pass our lane your bicycle bell rings
With my pony tail waggling I run to the gate to see your smile
For me it was worth one’s while

Some days you bravely ring our bell, study notes to my brother
Or call him to play cricket in the field not farther
I knew these crafty tricks played to see my face behind the wall
No matter what, your visits never fail during the holidays fall.

I still remember the day the first pimple sprouted on my face
The day you planted a kiss on my left cheek in such haste
That was real fast no time to see my blush
Paddled back your bicycle in sixty miles per hour rush

You won a scholarship and had to leave to some country far
The very first love note with a rose bud the maid brought so fast
“Please wait for me I promise to marry you sooner I return”
My eyes damped and my cheeks flushed could I wait until he returns.

Time passed on so many hills I marched
I am a mother of two boys and you are a father of three girls I heard.
Our lives go on in two different casts.
You are on one side and I am on the other this world vast .
I still yearn even for a glimpse of your shadow returns

I Wish I Had Wings

Oh bird! I wish had wings like you
Flapping and gliding over the sea and the clouds through
To explore the infinite glorious sky
Tell me little lark, how you manage to fly so high

Have you seen daffodils dance?
Like a saffron river ruffles to the mild breeze pass
Have you flown over the miles of meadows?
The grazing cows and sheep where their cry echoes

When you glide over the Ocean so vast
Do you feel tired and to rest, search for a mast?
Have you listened in the air the dolphins’ whistles?
Or seen the school of flying fish high above the sea ripples

I feel I am caged up and my world is so limited
Maybe I have material things that you never have experienced
You are much luckier than I, burdens or barriers are none
Sweet lark! You are free to explore where-ever you heart sets on

Oh bird! I wish I had wings like you

Hermit On a Twig

A harvest moon peeps
Through the silver mango tree
Hermit on a twig

Sincerity

Man with
                                     Sincerity
                            Very Rare now a day
                       Untrue, unbelievable, insane
                                      If found

Uncle Sam

There he was! Staggering in the corridor, in
Clean white shirt, white bow, and white trouser
All white even the shoes, except his brown leather hat
Covering his bold head with few hairs his comb never missed
Bade everyone “Good morning” with one toothy smile,
In return he got all our love unblemished

He was every body’s dearest “Sam Uncle”
Old Uncle Sam hardly missed a day in his office
He was there like a prayer, if possible on holidays
Whether the day was rainy or windy he did bother less
He was the first to sign the register at our PM’s office
He lurched to his table, kept near the receptionist

During the lunch breaks we await, his company so amused
To listen to the aftermath of Second World War.
His poems, his songs and his heroic love sagas
He knew that we didn't believe, made- ups all by him
Then chuckles like a child until tears roll down
He knows how to tickle you with his jokes rewound

I had to leave my office and him after my confinement
I soon forgot him and the office, I was busy in my home
One afternoon when glued to the TV, telephone deafened my ears
Sheela my old friend, sobbed from the other end of the cord,
"Mr. Sam collapsed in our corridor today and passed away now”,
I too couldn't hide my sobs,His staggers envisaged

He was a living Angel, and may have winged to heaven,
His poems, his songs, his love sagas still echo my ears

Uncle Sam was no relative of our chairman, although he too called him "Uncle Sam",
But a devoted clerk during his father’s time.
Even after the retirement he continued to come to his office.
This is a tribute to him.

Secret Admiration

When she comes with her kids to the pool
My admiring eyes
Walks all over her.
Hair
Breast
Legs
Feet
Toes
hands
Finally face
They are all so perfect
Curves in right place and right size
I cannot reveal my admiration, because
She is too young and
I am too old
