Without You

Why does the sun smile?
Why do the flowers dance?
Why do the trees sway?
Without you my dear friend
Why does the lark sing?

Why does the cool breeze blow
Why do white flowers shower over me?
Why do I stare at the empty meadow?
Without you my friend
Why do I enjoy life?

Why does the stream flow?
Why do the birds sweetly sing?
Why do the shrubs caress me?
Without you my friend
Why does the nature celebrate in joy?

Why do butterflies flutter around?
Why do the hills sing their age old song?
Why do the dewdrops kiss the flowers?
Without you my dear friend,
Why does the rainbow gleam over my head?

Why do the stars twinkle?
Why does the wind whisper?
Why do I feel lonely?
Without you my friend,
Why do I still breathe?

Why does the silence engulf me so?
Why do owls hoot at me?
Why hasn’t darkness yet come over me?
Without you my friend,
Why does the moon sail around in the sky?

My Dear Friend

The thunder outside shatters my hope
In incessant rain soaks my faith
The lightning above burns my patience
But the joy of your memories keeps me alive.
My dear friend where are you?

Months of unfruitful waiting no longer holds me
My wet eyes no longer speaks to me
My mirror by the window no longer sees me
But the joy of your memories keeps me alive.
My dear friend where are you?

The clock above leaves me pining
Twinkling stars tell me tales
The heavy breeze whispers faith
But the joy of your memories keeps me alive.
My dear friend why so late?

The hair hanging down my neck is left untied
The bows of my gown are left undone
Many questions in my little heart are left unanswered
I am here praying for the blessing of your sweet company
My friend when will you come?

The silence of my soul frowns at me
Loneliness of my self twines over me
Dark angles around tug at my faith
Before I loose to them all
Before we loose each other
Dear friend, please come soon.

The Distant Hope

When it dawns, when the sun smiles
When the hills arise and stretch
When the cuckoo sings over my window
My dear friend I think of you.
When drops of rain patter over my sill
When drops of golden sunshine peep through the leaves
When stray puppies cuddle to their mom
My dear friend I think of you.

When thunder shatters my window pane
When lightning illuminates uncertain futures
When rough waters rock my voyage
My dear friend I think of you.

When I walk through uneven seas
When tears roll down my cheeks
Then I see a small leading light
My dear friend I think of you.

When I’m alone in the woods after sunset
When all the birds leave me alone to go home
When the overgrowth tugs at my skirt
When I see a ray of hope
My dear friend I think of you.

When cool breeze brushes my hair
When moonlight spills over my bed
When I feel the want of someone
And I feel warmth at long last
My dear friend I think of you.

When I peep over my window
When the gentle breeze tells me tales of yore
When the twilight blesses my hope
When I see a distant stallion heading down
My dear friend I think of you.
