Tears of a Teen

They say our life is happy – so full of fun,
They call it advices when they point a gun,
Dad says ‘you only have to study – why can’t you’
Dear elders –wait a while, come and wear into my shoe!

Unit test are coming up –beware,
You must study till late-learn and prepare!

Don’t be coward – you are on the soccer field,
Bend like Beckham you must win a shield!

Oratory is the art of public speaking
you must participate, it’ll be interesting!

The quizmaster is confusing, you see,
Go through Telegraph, Statesman and Graphiti!

Late to bed and early to rise,
You say will make me brilliant and wise.

You were absent yesterday go and meet the clerk,
I will kick you out of the class, if you don’t do the home work!

Don’t get distracted be steady like the stars – look,
Go for tuitions – forget the hi5, Orkut or Facebook!

We are your elders – we say for your good,
Better pay attention or you’d it – understood!

Now that you’ve taken a ride into our routine,
Let me show you the pictures that you’ve already seen!

So easy is our life that we are never at rest,
Today is elocution and tomorrow will be the test,
If we fail – dad receives a letter,
If we pass – we can still do better!

What hypocrisy is this – are we machines,
We have our lives – we have our dreams!

You’ve made the board dirty with your words – you must clean,
I’m sorry elders it was just the blood from the heart of a teen!!

Sweetheart Darjeeling

Sweetheart Darjeeling

Three hours of walk uphill from the town,
The woods grew thicker and the world down,
Heart panting – eyes floating in the wooden beaker,
Oh! It was dark yet darker-deep yet deeper!
I heard Frost calling and recalled the “snowy evening”
The sky still silent-a colorful sunrise brought the morning! !

Which way shall I go was the question,
Shall I obey the lessons learnt or opt to learn?

No second thought-forgetting all I went with the flow,
A joy in my heart the early morning seemed to glow,
It was the bliss of the woods-the hills of Darjeeling,
Orchids dancing and the streams began to sing,
Valleys-trees, birds – bees , everything,
In your heart – sweetheart Darjeeling! !

Every step I took- I took with regret,
Every angle was so perfect-the heaven had set,
A wish from my heart – oh queen Darjeeling,
The songs of your streams-let me also sing,
Rapids-waterfalls, tunnels-iceballs, everything,
In your heart-sweetheart Darjeeling! !

Gazed and gazed-amazed was I,
Amazement-excitement that none could hide,
A magic in your leaves-oh majestic Darjeeling,
The rattle with breeze-in mist playing,
The white cymbidium-the pink dendrobium, everything,
In your heart-sweetheart Darjeeling! !

I felt the mist on my face-the cold on my skin,
Those virgin woods hidden-high, diverse yet so akin,
Those narrow winding streams-oh darling Darjeeling,
So lively-the multi colored birds bathe and sing,
Teesta blue-Rangeet green-everything,
In your heart -sweetheart Darjeeling! !

Oh Darjeeling, so majestic-magical and serene,
Philosophies all at one end-alone you win,
For the silent words you speak-you are teacher,
Miles one must walk but never in his leisure,
A day of leisure in the lap of Darjeeling,
Bathes your soul-spirit, everything! !

Miles I’ve walked-all promises kept-regret nothing,
Oh! Revered Frost I think you’d not seen Darjeeling! !

Friends Forever

the parlour of my heart was empty, no wheels in my cart,
sweet friends, you filled the gap~you filled the heart!
lifeless was my life ~no rain no breeze,
sweet friends, you painted it with memories!
you've struggled for words when my verses didnt rhyme,
you've given me an hour when you had no spare time!
when my life turns challenging and misfortunes seem to crush,
the memories come to light of the daes spent together by us!
days we have spent together~ together we spent the hours,
we have played with the dust ~ have played with the flowers!
when that the tears of sorrow have kissed your cheeks,
friends i've cried at heart, have cried for weeks!
long years of togetherness will shortly fade away,
the sun will soon set and end our golden day!
but i treasure you in my heart wrapped in love,
no failure ~ no success, MY FRIENDS ABOVE...........

A Star Is Born

There is a sweet little girl whom i see each day,
she wishes to be a star,I pray that she may!

She has the jest, she has the power,
She is the star, star of the next hour!

She wishes to fly but she is shackled in school,
But once she is out,I bet she will rule!

she has a heart that wishes good for all,
her songs remind me of the early morn bird's call!

she has a dream, not short - far too long,
she dreams to change the world with her song!

she is so confident,so lively - so bold,
''but she cant decide her life'',her parents told!

the wonderful girl who should be rocking the stage,
is again in a school,I will call it a shackled cage!

she has a pen, a copy and an elephant book,
and she has to bear it all with a pleasant look!

last night was a shakira's show, she must have cried,
they think she is happy but she is dying inside!

this star will be killed long before she shines,
but I'll accuse the convicts in my rhymes and lines!

Derasest parents, no doubt you love us, you have carried us in your lap,
but you are not me and i am not you, between us is a generation gap!

Our thoughts are different, dreams and ideals too,
so how can you decide we will wear red or blue!

Be a good dad,be a good mom, dont always talk of the performance,
we need your support, your guidance and not your hinderance!

Hundreds of your sons kill themselves every year,
what more proof you need,is it not clear?

we have a life,
we are the teens,
we have hopes,
we have dreams!!

and it was her right to dream, she dreamt of a star,
but I am afraid they will kill her before she goes far!!

This Is Life

Life admirres you as long as you raise,
soothing joy it provides by its praise,
there is sunshine but no dismal cloud,
and slowly like a spell it makes you proud!

The people around all seem good and true,
for they are busy gathering floers for you,
Life seems to be a bed of roses or a boon,
but vapours they are-they will vanish soon!

Don't be a fool- don't be wise,
there are smiles-there are cries,
your colourful sight will turn dull once you fall,
and the Good people around will quickly change all!

No longer will they response when you wish,
and all your aspirations when you wish,
but remember life is a wind which will always blow,
and its persistent harshness can never make you slow!

Flowers bloom because they've to fall someday,
but as long as they stay-they scent the day!

and today you are high but tomorrow you may fall,
so as long as you are high, spread joy among all!

the joy that you bring to others in your day of power,
will come back to your rescue in your despair hour!!!

A Sweet Sad Sonnet

My mornings smiled in the faint gleam of the moon,
while we sat together and held our soon,
the new water is cold but colder was my hand,
and the passion of your palms probed them in the sand,
you looked into my eyes and told me all about you,
the night slowly faded and the sky turned blue,
I hesitated to tell: oh! your gracious eyes true,
and I confessed the only girl I loved was you!

But those days were short, you spurned me through,
Oh! I rained to sow, prosperity and then flooded you!
Yet I am patient - patient like the drops of rain to wet,
counting-cherishing-concoting,the pattering on my breath!
The clouds if you bear me,there are volumes to share,
There will be rain again - no flood when we are together!!

A Little Love Song of Little Things

A LITTLE LOVE SONG OF LITTLE THINGS.

There is nothing to say
 no complaints no gratitude,
Your aptitude is right but
 its hindering your attitude!
A glass was my page-
you were my water I thought,
Your love was a sorrowful battle
with tears I fought!!
Every drop of tear
 that wet my eyes,
I hid with smiles
beneath my cries!
You were the amazing rolling
waves of the sea that help to sail,
I forgot the same waves turn
monstrous and the sailors do fail!!
There was a time when
you had nothing beside you,
A bucket of tears and
the company of devils in your crew,
There were tears in your eyes
 and a passion of compassion,
The tears turned into laughter
 and so changed your fashion!!
Let me recall today although
what is done for others must be forgotten,
When you were wet I soaked
your tears and did swell like the cotton,
When the burden of sorrow
overlapped your heart-I was the button,
But when prosperity knocks
men lock their rooms and draw the curtain!!
Who remembers the world beyond the window,
Who cares for the candles when the bulbs glow,
Who remembers the teardrops when they laugh,
Who cares for a muffler when they have the scarf??
Oh girl you forgot your tears
were not yours they were our,
Oh girl you forgot you were
not my weakness you’re my power,
Oh girl you forgot the drops of rain
 is purer than the shower,
Oh girl you forgot a garden
is not garden without the flower!!
Just look outside your window
the love bees are sad to see us part,
The bulbs may glow your room
but the candle brightens your heart,
The laughter echoes in the air
but the teardrops paint your memory,
The scarf may be expensive
but the old muffler will serve you for free!!
Those drops of tears that’ve
evaporated are calling us back again,
The sky is gradually darkening
and reuniting the drops of rain,
The Garden of Eden is scentless
and the flowers are numb to bloom,
And the curtain is explosive
to open and brighten our room!!
I feel a strong sensation
in me to reunite,
And relive the days
that’ve gone out of sight,
But the garden will not rejoice
unless the bees hum and the flowers bloom,
And the flowers will bloom only
if you hold my hand and walk out of your room!!
Once we are together we’ll go
back into our lovely loving phase,
And once the grasses grow-
the cows will certainly come to graze,
And once the flowers bloom
there will soon be humming of the bees,
And again there will be joy in little things-
in candles, mufflers and trees!!

I Am Desperate

I am desperate,
I see no hope,
I stare at the ceiling,
I hold the rope!

I wanted to talk,
I went to my mother
She was busy with her work,
She does not bother!

Oh girl I loved you.
You were my life,
You left me alone
I hold the knife,

I went to my father,
I wanted his love and case,
He was in an angry mood,
I did not dare!

My grades are getting low,
But I’m improving as a singer,
‘The world will not accept you’,
I pulled the trigger!

And the Teacher Goes Out

He sits alone; they think he is dull,
In the last desk of the class; he paints
a world of his own-a teacher enters!
His eyes brighten once again, a sheer
hope of determination brings back the
glee as the pupils change their color
from the former noisy bees to submissive
sloths. Once again he hopes the teacher
will look at him, will advise or appreciate
like he glorifies the star pupils.
The teacher stands, there is a bewildering
silence, he turns the pages as he moves
forward, waves of joy arise in the heart
of the urchin for he has waited all these
days to be loved, to be cared and granted
like the other pupils. A question is posed
and the clever ones shout in a hundred
thunders, amidst which his answer is lost
just like the ripples which arise and vanish
quickly. The bell rings and without a single
glimpse into the eyes of the urchin, the
teacher goes out! !

An Innocent Prayer

A Beautiful pearl, I saw shining in the river,
Down it was lounging in the palace of fishes clever.
I jumped into the heater to decorate it with my tone,
Oh! I forgot alone I came and I shall go alone.
The universal candle rests and its dark the early sky,
There is no murmur, no hustle, no bustle, I wonder why?
Oh lord! Give such tolerance to my bewildering heart too,
So that I can wait till my sky promises and turns blue.

The sun shines but its free from the clutches of fever,
The Ganges flow but never tasted its blessed water.
The trees sprout, yet forgive the sweet tasty fruits,
Oh lords! Show me too such bright shining routes
Where I not only accumulate the cloth and the food,
But also throw light to this world – my sweet,
Sweet neighborhood!!
