Star-Filled Skies

Star-filled skies fall like broken snowflakes all around.
I stand here and watch them melt as they hit the ground.
But I notice that they’re only my tears;
Of shattered dreams and forgotten fears.
Frozen in shards, lost in my wretched mind.
Knowing full well that they’re not one of a kind.
Soon others gain knowledge of the demented things I do.
That’s funny how they know, I wish I knew.
Seeking through the shadows that overtake this place.
It’s always been here, staring me in the face.
I made my haunted world I so love to live.
I wonder, is there enough of my life to give?
Free me from the chains I use to bind my soul.
How can I give, when I’m not completely whole?
I stare through this “savage garden” with theses tear-stained eyes.
As I gather the fading light to hide in my star-filled skies.

Talented Curses

To know what you shouldn’t.
To know what’ll happen if you don’t do something.
To know you have the power in your hands.
To know you can alter reality with one word.
To know what’s going through another’s thoughts.
To know what they’re about to say,
Each and every day…
To feel the pain that shudders through one’s body.
To feel the fear from a mile away.
To feel the last breath that’s taken in.
To feel death when it’s very near.
To feel the never-ending heartache.
To feel when someone needs,
And dealing with the fact that no one cares…
To hear the cries of a dying child.
To hear the agony of a woman being raped.
To hear the spiteful words of a teenager.
To hear a riot unfold for the sake of death.
To hear someone you love say they hate you.
To hear the hurtful words that drives a man to suicide,
Screaming what it takes to not run and hide…
To change things when you had the chance.
To change a world of hate.
To change past regrets to have other consequences.
To change your heart to benefit someone else.
To change your beliefs to make you a better person.
To change when no one else wants to…
For these are what talented curses seem to do.

Sands of Glass

I stand on a beach of broken glass.
Sands tossed by time, filled with the past.
Bottles smashed around to and fro, here then there.
Thrown about by everyone without any real care.
I look beyond sea to a place of black glass.
It may be an evil place or maybe just grass.
Bottles float in the water with notes of love gone by.
I dreamt of a place where love never really dies.
I've read so many notes that have washed up to shore.
They are not for me, so who are they for?
All I ever really get from anywhere is broken glass.
Deep scars of pain as the bottle was cast.
Their notes have always been messages written in vain.
Long ago created to cause me deep-rooted pain.
Now diamonds and pearls are floating on in.
It's hard to discern if they'll be broken glass again.
I hold my head high with diamonds in my hand.
With bare feet I walk around upon this sand.
It's hard to tread lightly on this blanketed amass.
So, I'll just stand here in one place, bleeding on glass.
